To be clear, it's already a critics vs gamers title. It's been that way the entire time so far and there's no way either side will back down after launch. Gaming discourse is a shit show. Everyone would be happier if they just played Tetris but they don't wanna listen to me. lol

Anyway, the guy at game rant said he put 100 hours into it over the course of 3 playthroughs. 33 hours on average, most likely the first playthrough being a little bit longer than the second and third. The Hinterlands curse may have been defeated.

 

I play what interests me, I don't let other "gamer's" opinion affect my enjoyability.

Also if you're interested in veilguard I HIGHLY suggest the 7 episode podcast DA: Vows and Vengeance, it's like a mini prequel that expands on the game's companions we'll be able to recruit.

 

I thought Tassi's review at Forbes was kinda interesting simply because he hasn't liked any of the Dragon Age games. He wasn't glowing about Veilguard but he thought it was good nonetheless. For once, at least he talked about something other than Destiny 2... iykyk

Youtubers seem to be a bit more divided on the game. I'm not talking about the weirdos knee deep in the brain rot culture war. Just the usual suspects. Mortismal think it's awesome. SkillUp, not so much.

 

German magazine GameStar said it's essentially Dragon Age: Mass Effect (endearingly) so... uh... yes please?

 

Yeah I've read that 1. The next mass effect has some big shoes to fit if it wants to follow this up and 2. The most cohesive game since ME3 (which isn't saying much since what... Andromeda and Anthem?) but still it's praise

I'm hyped. 80+ hours and that's music to my ears!

Seconded, I've played similar games but never a DA (besides the odd hour or 2) and this looks dope. I'm not opposed to turn based combat, and I really enjoyed BG3, but this makes the magic and combat look so incredibly fluid and exciting in a way that I'll probably enjoy more.

Now to carve out the time to play in an already hectic life. I'd say an hour or so a night but who am I kidding, this looks like it'd suck me in and keep me going way into the morning.

They didn't to a few. Why do you say that about Fextralife?

 

Seems odd to fly a lot of those people out to a preview event and then not do review codes tbh.

 

Fextralife did that sketchy viewbotting or viewer embedding shit on twitch forever until they got called out/caught and still defended it but now they don't do it anymore.

 

They steal a lot of content and heavily restrict how editable it is and essentially use it as a front for their twitch page and used hidden embeds on their site to boost their viewer count and shit like that to the point where Twitch had to step in cuz they were essentially defrauding sponsors

I agree with that though it is weird to send mixed messages on that

I think they were trying to just stop the brunt of mixed/poor reviews tbh. It seems a lot of the people who didn't get review codes that were at the event had "i'm cautiously optimistic" final thoughts on the preview. If they can get metacritic higher until a few days after release, then it helps with the "ill wait for review crowd"

with all due respect, everyone who pre-ordered a game that was in development for 10+ years sight unseen is a fucking mark.

 

looks sick. feels like they had to string together this though after all the bungie bad press.

 

I'm probably still going to play it but this is disappointing to hear. It's at a 75 on Metacritic at the moment.

This is a bummer to hear. That it starts out great and then falls flat.

My friend (who is a mark) preordered it on my account and so I can play it for free lol. so maybe I'll enjoy it, even if it's a flawed experience.
