Man I was just thinking about how good a dad I have haha. When I was a kid, he straight up waited in line for the midnight release of the PSP for me since I had to go to bed early for school.

And then the first half of the day ended up being a snow day so I got to play it first thing in the morning!

 

My parents actively encouraged us to play video games and my dad took me and my brother to trade in our old system and games for whatever new thing had just come up for every console gen through the ps3/360 starting with the SNES which they had before they had any kids.

 

Even to this day when I got out of rehab earlier this year and was having a rough time my dad bought me dragons dogma 2 and final fantasy 7 rebirth. hell last year when I told him I was saving for a ps5 he just randomly sent me the remaining 150 I needed for it

 

random aside I met the lead singer of one step closer last night and he looks like an extremely young and skinny Todd Howard

 

my parents gave me money to go wait in line and buy my snes classic that I ended up never using that was cool lmao

 

I saw on twitter that someone said killing floor 2 was like $1.50 on Xbox and I was like oohhh good game for me and my family but then I saw it’s a real grind and I was like nevermind I won’t survive the grind lmao.

 

jumped back into FF7 Rebirth for the first time today since I beat it a few months back and I realized I missed a lot of shit lol

Player's Log: Sigma Star Saga/Contra 4

So I beat Sigma Star Saga tonight and got the first two endings. It was kind of a pain in the ass because the final boss kept doing a weird glitch where he'd heal with every hit, and I'm almost sure that's not supposed to happen. I had to use turbo fire to get around it. It is what it is.

As a game, it was pretty good. I liked how it combined RPG mechanics with shoot-'em-up battles, and while the story was still cliche trash, it got somewhat interesting once everyone started double-crossing each other.

Anyway, one of the achievements RetroAchievements made is to beat the game in five hours, which I think might be doable for my second run since I intend to strip out 95% of the combat and I don't need to search for any collectibles. With that in mind, I'm waiting until the weekend to give it a go.

In the meantime, I started and finished Contra 4. I think this is the first time WayForward had been given the reins of someone else's franchise, and it's a good enough iteration. It makes sense why Konami returned to them for Operation Galuga.

It borrows a lot of concepts from previous Contra games, but pretties them up a scoch and adds some new mechanics what with the game using both of the DS' screens for the level layouts and giving your guy a grappling hook. It's classic Contra through and through.

I used cheats to finish the game with no damage, as is my wont. There are challenge levels though and I unlocked the original Contra and Super C, so I'm going to continue tomorrow.

I may also take this time to go back and get the achievements for Wendy: Every Witch Way. I dunno. If I do go forward with something new, my next game on the list is Batman: The Brave And The Bold. I'll be playing both the DS and Wii versions, so I'm going to start with the DS one.

God, I have no energy to game on gym nights. I played about 20 minutes of Pentiment and that's all I could muster today.

 

Scorn is really fucking weird. Pretty creepy atmosphere and creature design reminds me of BioShock
