GameStop accidentally posted a release date for this year but it was the same date the original came out and would’ve been on a Sunday this year. I don’t think they’ve even given a release window yet. I could be wrong though

I think Geoff giving that intro speech about indies dominating the industry was great and like a HEY BIG COMPANIES THERE ARE MANY PATHS TO SUCCESS STOP BANKING ON ULTRA FIDELITY GAMES THAT FORCE YOU TO LAY OFF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVERY FISCAL YEAR message that was necessary

 

Geoff doing two shows is always gonna lead to disappointment. AAA game dev takes so fucking long now then companies have to pick between his events or a Sony/microsoft/nintendo event.

SGF's quality is also predicated on what happens to be ready to announce and showcase. Timing is a big factor.

(this is the part where I add that I know Fortnite has raytracing but you know what I mean)

 

I like the occasionally amazing looking game, but given what i tend to play, clearly it's not the majority of what matters to me.

gimme all the indies and AA.

 

rarely do I walk away from big AAA games thinking 'wow, that was new and exciting game design'

I am constantly saying that with smaller titles and I'll take that over seeing every. single. detail. on a character design any day

 

stylized graphics hold up better than hi fidelity in every single era and as we inch closer to photo realism it won’t be any different in my opinion. which is why I for one welcome the heavily stylized look of the veilguard, origins graphics have aged like milk because it was trying for gritty realism in an era where it wasn’t really possible

 

I tend to agree with this unless it's full on path tracing.

 

I'm all for video games as a medium to push technological advances, but tbh my computer can barely run newer games on medium settings let alone ultra high or whatever it's called. Heck, I've been playing only Shantae games for like a week
