like I tried playing origins as a real time with pause CRPG and it sucked it plays much better as a tab targeting game

Yeah, I played it a few months ago. It's really nothing like Ace Combat tbh.

For a 2D platformer, Kaze and the Wild Masks is much more different than I expected. This is very much a spiritual successor to SNES Donkey Kong games.

  7. I don't think I've ever played DA with a controller before
Sorry, I am confusion. Can you clarify? Define turn-based, pause crpg, and tab targeting? Which is and isn't DA?

You can play origins as a real time with pause classic RPG type game in the vein of Baldurs gate or Baldurs gate 2 but for my experience it worked better playing it like world of Warcraft where you have abilities on your action bar and target enemies by using the tab key and hitting key binds for your spells to kill them

Real time with pause is where you pause and unpause the game as you issue commands to your party and I’ve heard on higher difficulties you basically have to play it like that but I only ever played on easy and normal so it wasn’t necessary. Not a huge fan of real time with pause even in games I love like pillars of eternity and tyranny I just put up with it, if a game has a turn based option like pillars 2 or pathfinder wrath of the righteous I’m gonna choose that every time when it comes to CRPGs

  10. Hmm. I'm pausing every three seconds to heal and place aoe spells.

    You're... Not pausing?

And neither of those is turn based, which would be more like FF7?

I mean I do when I need to but for the most part no i don’t pause every two seconds to issue commands to everyone I don’t like playing like that very much and I play on lower difficulties so it doesn’t matter I let the ai do their thing

Real time with pause games also tend to have AI scripting. So you can script your party to take certain actions under certain scenarios, so you don't necessarily have to pause to do it. From what I recall, that sort of thing was first done in Final Fantasy XII with the gambit system. Yes, FFXII is essentially a real time with pause cprg. But every crpg after it took that idea because it's very convenient for that style of game.

I'm not even joking, I'm the only person I know who prefers real time with pause combat over turn based. Josh Sawyer said if he was ever given the budget of BG3 to make Pillars 3, it'd be turn based only. Which is unfortunate but I'm in the minority so I guess I'd have to deal with it.

that’s just how I prefer to play the game tho it’s nice it works either way

It’s just really hard for me to grasp the flow of combat with it and especially in late game pillars thing are so busy and chaotic and the feedback on screen is so messy it quickly becomes unwieldy and overwhelming to the point where it feels like I’m pausing to catch up and desperately survive. Which is why I prefer using ai scripting to focus on my own character which is why I’m not inherently against not controlling other characters in veilguard however like I said I do like the ability to switch it up and play with another class by controlling party members like I spent a good few hours playing as iron bull my last inquisition run because I loved two hand warrior gameplay but my inquisitor was a mage

Turn based just works so much better when it comes to playing out the fantasy of controlling every party members actions

  16. Oh I'm not micromanaging every character all the time, my character just has spells that--for me--require pausing

I’ve also never played origins or 2 on console and neither have native controller support on PC so I have no idea how different the gameplay would be with a controller. I’ve played inquisition with both controller and mkb and much prefer controller. I have origins on ps3 but have never played it like that so I might do that soon and play through the entire series before veilguard

I get why turn based is far more popular. It's more generally accessible. I don't hate turn based. I still play some crpgs that have it like Shadowrun and Wasteland. But if given the option, I would always choose rtp. It'll never be an option going forward though. There's too few who prefer it, that it's a waste of resources.

need to finish this I’ve read three of the stories so far the writing is really good and feels like dragon age I’m always wary of novel adaptations of video game ip given how hit and miss the Warcraft novels are (some are great tho) but yeah highly suggest this for anyone interested in veilguard and likes some good fantasy reading!!!

I have been playing LOL lately. League of Legends is fun if you like strategy and teamwork. Every match is different and exciting. The game is pretty complicated. There are around 100 characters in the game. Every character has its combinations and strategies that you have to memorize to do well in the game. So, the game can become challenging. This is the reason some players use League of Legends scripts to get a boost in the game. These scripts can help you automate actions or improve your map awareness to dodge attacks and react faster. When I first started playing, I also used these scripts. Otherwise, I would've failed the game. So it's a good boost when you are a rookie.
