it was posted a page or two back but this 100 games that taught me game design video is brilliant. I eat up top ten ______ videos like slop and most of them are just redundant and the same games every time. while this list has a lot of familiar titles the explanation behind the reason it’s included in a list about game design is what makes it so cool, and there are some really interesting games on here that aren’t necessarily the norm in these videos. plants vs zombies gets a nod. other games I’ve never even heard of. others I completely forgot existed. definitely check this one out if you like this kind of content

I’ve seen a couple videos here or there but definitely adding them to my daily rotation even tho I have no intention of ever making a game lol

 

no yeah, even if you're not into game development just seeing the design philosophies behind some of them is so eye opening and interesting
i love his two videos on Celeste

and his yearly Game Jam always has really interesting results as well!
Rollerdrome, for example, started as an idea from one of them!!

a day before they’re supposed to be out too, I feel like they’re obligated to tell us why

 

Genuine question, why do people like Diablo? I played 3 but quit part way through act 5 and never came close to getting it. The moment to moment gameplay is dull and repetitive and the gear grind didnt pull me in. Does it really pop off in the post game or is it just not for me?

 

Probably just not for you. I’m a sucker for clicking on enemies and watching the numbers pop up on the screen. It’s brainless and satisfying lol.

Damn, was hoping there was some secret that I was missing. For some reason, I really want to be able to get into it, haha.

 

played risk of rain 2 last night. got to the final boss on my first run and got fucked by a cheap hit. put the game down and went to bed. I swear I’ll get it one of these days I’m literally right there I know exactly how to get to the final boss every run with engineer I just can’t seem to get through it

Engineer is my favorite character but that final boss is so rough to do solo. It requires a lot of mobility and engineer is just…not

 

It’s the same for me, I’ve just accepted it’s not for me

 

I might need to give huntress another shot but I had a hard time even getting to the final boss with that class

 

The road to acceptance is a long and winding one. I hope one day to get to where you are.

 

You kind of have to find your class and build for Diablo to be fun. I can’t remember specifically what I played in Diablo 3 but I remember it was a blast. The rogue build I did in d4 for the leveling content was fine but not nearly as fun as my D3 experience. Haven’t gone back to mess with any end game content or try new classes.
