I dunno if Ittle Dew or Oceanhorn and their sequels are on the Switch, but if so, they get my vote.

I'm not the biggest fan of Inquisition but it's probably worth playing through at least once. Its tone is pretty different from the previous two games though. Origins and DA2 are pretty dark, sometimes disturbingly so, while Inquisition is more like a Marvel movie. You don't really need to play the other two though it's helpful.

On a side note, I despise Inquisition's crafting system. lol

things insquisition does way better than origins and 2:

    graphics (obvious)
    environment designs (obvious)
    companion personalities and quests (obvious)
    loot (obvious)
    combat (obvious)
progression systems (war table in particular is a great way to unlock new zones and stories but this is a controversial take)

the only thing it’s “lacking” is the main quest story but the Trespasser DLC pretty much brings it up to par

Inquisition's tone is far closer to a marvel movie than it is to DA:O and DA2. Anyone who says otherwise is coping.

As for what's better, it's pretty clear DA:O is a better RPG than Inquisition and has a far greater application of choice/consequence, even if it hasn't aged well in some areas. Inquisition's class system is also watered down in comparison even if Origins isn't exactly balanced.

that doesn’t make it like a marvel movie and there is still plenty of dark shit going on in inquisitions stories. Cullen’s quest line dealing with his lyrium addiction actually very personally affected me in a way nothing else in video games ever has, that’s a very mature quest dealing with a topic you almost never ever ever see in video games. Hell on that note the amount of diversity and faithful representation of different people in inquisition is pretty much the ideal scenario when it comes to that kind of thing in video games, you can tell the dragon age team is a very diverse group of people

getting back in the outer worlds there are WAY more quests in edgewater than I remember the first time I did this I must have skipped a lot lol. It’s been a while since I played a game with tons of dialogue options based on your skills (mass effects system is good but BioWare never had the depth Obsidian does when it comes to this)
