Got Win #12 on Balatro now, I've beaten all the decks that you can unlock before doing the higher stakes ones.

 

Unfortunately the previews for Rise of the Ronin aren’t super positive like I was hoping. A lot of people saying it’s a good open world game but the combat lacks substance and the graphics are kinda dated. Oh well gives me more time with Dragon’s Dogma 2 that day.

 

I think any Team Ninja fans will dig it

 

should I romance this absolute fkin unit in Unicorn Overlord? Her shield is bigger than my horse

 

I want the game almost solely because of this character

 

Even then I'm not sure. FightinCowboy wasnt very positive

 

I don't think I saw a leaked list of this earlier but hell yeah Midnight Suns! Have been wanting to try it.

Like he said from a technical standpoint the game seems good and the combat fun, but definitely isnt what he wanted out of it (he wants something closer to Nioh 2). So take some of his thoughts with that grain of salt.

I am a little bummed, but still interested. Curious what reviews say.

Want to make it clear his disappointment largely stems from it not being more like Nioh 2 and the combat being easier for "casuals" than soulslike fans. He said the combat still felt good but he wanted it more complicated lol

 

You're not wrong. Some of the "better" complaints highlighted that it goes beyond the graphics but more things like the horse riding looks like shit (it's goofy in the videos) and that the world feels empty. Like you're in a town but there's hardly anyone there.

like he seemed to take issue with an optional accessibility feature allowing people to use one button to perform a combo (which is really just hitting the button 4x like most hack n slash) and i didn't like how he made that sound. like who cares? that's for accessibility! like christ

I think those who know Team Ninja, me included, just expected something different from the combat I guess? This might be the cause of some disappointment. For the non-graphics weirdos anyway.

 

I don't have any experience with their games but all of the stuff I've seen about it points out it is supposed to be their entry for a more narrative based game so I feel like it shouldn't come as a surprise that the combat takes a bit of a backseat, but again that's just from my perspective.

 

obv I can only speak for me, a person who is generally rather cracked, but Nioh 2 was very easy compared to Nioh 1, they added a bunch of mechanics so you can just mow down even the most difficult bosses. However, given how none of my enjoyment of Nioh came from the difficulty, it's great they're making it easier, and more importantly, open world.
