Stating the obvious here but reiterating, Palworld's success is a direct result of the trash state the last couple pokemon games not only were released under but absolutely, positively not even attempted to be corrected.

I hope this wakes Game Freak them up.

hard to deny the pandemic has done a lot to normalize remote work but companies stuck in the past need to get it together this shits ridiculous in 2024 we’ve come so far there’s no reason to adhere to such archaic business practices

 

Credits rolling in XBC2.125 hours! Took a while to actually beat it, decided to tackle some side quests before doing the final chapter. Now onto the post game content and Torna!

I LOVED this game. Much more than the first. It really felt like a proper xeno title. I especially loved the realm world ruins and the sci fi events of the space station and not-Zohar that tied back to XBC1. So is it my understanding that the explosion Klaus caused in the space station.....that caused the creation of the world that Bionis and Mechonis were on? And therefore Klaus teleported elsewhere, and he then created Alrest? I really hope that part of the story isn't over.....the modern "past" cuz seeing how the world tree was just an orbital station blew my mind and I'm a huge fan of that trope, of how theres a fantasy world and it's revealed there's ruins of our modern civilization and it's actually some future where we screwed up but civilization just stared over again.

 

never posted my 2023 master list, every game i finished last year!!! very very happy I was able to hit so many and with how many older games I was able to hit (thank you nintendo switch online consoles and steam deck emulation you’re my boys). obviously had a fall off at the end of the year which just proves something I know to be true: the less I game the more susceptible I am to relapsing. video games are my number one anti-drug and immersing myself in them and the industry (good and bad) keeps me sober and happy.

 

Gross. Companies like Ubisoft are going to be using AI to make their games more soulless and predatory. They already announced they have dialogue being written by AI I really can't imagine all the other crap their going to shove down consumers gullets.

 

Until dawn gets more content before a bloodborne remaster

 

i could be wrong but i feel like ubisoft games have been having trouble meeting sales expectations lately. maybe if it sucks it still wont sell.

 

I'm curious if the palworld craze will stay and be similar to Pokemon for years to come or if it will be like monster rancher or yokai watch with not maintaining its momentum

Ubisoft for the past couple years has been struggling to get games out the door. And you are correct, they were upset by the underperformance of games like Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and some others. They also cancelled a few unannounced games because they were having issues with development.

Hopefully now that they've had a few hits under their belt, most recently with Prince Of Persia, they'll continue down a good path. But they've been very vocal about being into AI and they were into NFTs as well. It seems like there is a trend at them grasping at what's hot because they're suffering in some areas.

 

i started it and got dizzy from the camera movement but i'd like to revisit it at some point

 

The demo, it didn’t really do much for me but objectively it looks super interesting.
