He’s right. The generic dungeons were way less of a hassle. No stupid train dungeon. The vibe of the whole game was more chill.

Persona 3 Reload clears them both tbh

I heavily disagree re: Persona 4 Golden

Might agree re: Persona 3 Reload though, still need to finish it but it's been so good

Every second of Clair Obscur I'm so obsessed. I'm going very very slow but god I'm so thankful for this game

The setting of P5 just doesn’t do anything for me.

Haven’t played that (or any version) yet but I am definitely interested

Setting-wise P4 definitely clears P5. I really just moreso disagree about the dungeons. I didn't wanna touch the P4 dungeons at all, found them way too monotonous. Also was very split on the characters. Some were the best ever but they had some terribly written characters throughout P4 as well (and I felt like the misogyny/homophobia/fatphobia that has always been present in those games was especially emphasized in P4 and especially hard to stomach)

But yeah the small town setting in P4 and the vibe you mentioned is the best part of P4 and what makes it so special for sure

Still pending for me, CO will probably beat it at the rate it’s going for me

4 feels wholly unique, even 3 does in some ways because it introduced a lot of things that weren't in 1 and 2, but Persona 5 just felt like it took too much from the previous games and part of that ruined the charm for me.

Inaba feels so quaint and refreshing. I like the small town vibe and feeling like a high schooler that gets thrust into a mystery. 5 tries too hard in a lot of areas where I feel like it ends up beating you over the head with the points it is making. Also I just personally like the 4 cast the best.

I also want to point out that these are my preferences and I am in no way stating 5 is a bad game because it isn't. It's just my least favorite.

I'll say too that I do like the plot of 5 a lot more than the plot of 5 Royal. The extra story did nothing for me. (The QOL changes and cool stuff in it did but I thought the story took a major step backwards in 5 Royal)

I'm really hoping 6 will be pretty drastically different and they don't keep using the same character archetypes. That was my biggest problem with 5, so many of them just felt like copies of earlier characters with bit changes either gender or humor.

  18. I think I've already spent more time playing Balatro than Clair Obscur and Oblivion remaster combined

Clair Obscur was very good. Not sure I agree with the 10/10s I've been seeing everywhere, but it is very polished and the charm of the setting and some of the characters is undeniably wonderful. Other bits dragged me down a bit such as the pacing of some of the game and some spoilery things I won't get into. Gameplay always felt tight so if you like turn based RPGs I would go check it out.

had a boss fight in Clair Obscur that rivals some of the best moments I've ever had in gaming. spoil tagging because it takes place in Act 2.

I was fighting the Dualliste for the first time and got him down to a sliver of health and then my party was wiped and completely forgot about calling in the reserves feature and thought I was done for. my reserve was Verso, parried a couple hits and was able to stay alive for ONE MORE round and used his blitz attack to get 2 hits in and... knocked that fucker out first try - cue the cutscene. when I tell you I was hyped, that is an understatement.
