Omg yes and I loved every second. Sometimes I feel like Clair Obscur was made especially for me

 

Player's Log

I need cool games to stop coming out for like ... 5 years. Because I'm already spending way more free time on gaming these last few months than I normally do, and I'm still adding games to wishlists faster than I can play them. Anyway, here's an update since last time.

Spyro the Dragon: Beat it, Platinum trophy, had a blast. It was my first Spyro game (other than messing around with a Blockbuster rental as a kid), and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be playing at least 2 and 3, if not the complete series at some point.

Valkyrie Elysium: Beat it and got all endings! Eventually I need to play the DLC and (probably) play it again on Hard to get a Platinum, but for now I'm more than content with the time I sank into it.

I have way too many thoughts about this game for a simple update post (and I don't know if anyone else here has played it to care), but I'll say this much. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is one of my favorite games of all time, like easily top five, so I'm greedy for anything even tangentially related. Elysium was an excellent game in many places. Combat was genuinely a blast, the storyline was enthralling, the art style was wonderful. I don't really have any dislikes with the game, only observations on missed opportunities—there's a lot of potential within the game's framework that I don't think is being used to its fullest. I don't know if that's an issue of budget, or timeline, or simple creative decisions or other factors at play, but there are various areas of the game that should have been expanded or complexified, but instead they're left with a pretty simple and straightforward approach. Again, nothing that's in the game is disappointing; but there's a definite feeling of things left out that would have made the game so much better.

It's tricky though, because I completely enjoyed my time with the game, thought the story was super compelling, and will happily play it again down the road, which is something I don't do very often. That's probably colored by my love for the series as a whole, but I do think it's a genuinely good game, though perhaps not top-tier/must-play for everyone.

TMNT: Wrath of the Mutants: Played this straight through on a Sunday afternoon with my five-year-old. As arcade ports go, it's pretty mid; as actual arcade games go, the original is also pretty mid, so that tracks. But as a way to spend an hour with my son, who got so excited while fighting Shredder that he literally ran into a wall and didn't notice because his adrenaline was so high ... well, hard to mark it down at all for that. It was a blast in that regard.

Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist: Just got the Platinum for this one tonight. What a fantastic game. It wasn't really on my radar, other than having heard good things about Lilies, but a friend of mine loaned me his copy and said I should check it out since I've been diving into the genre a lot lately. I've been meaning to play other games first, but Magnolia just sucked me in and wouldn't let go. Phenomenal storytelling, worldbuilding, music, and gameplay. Loved every bit of it. I obviously need to check out Lilies at some point now.

And that's that! Back to procrastinating all my other hobbies by playing Skyrim, Aer, Mandragora, and Kena for the next couple weeks.

 

I loved Ender Lilies. Glad to hear its sequel is also good. Outside of Ori, Shantae, and Guacamelee I don't think I've played a lot of MV sequels, I've yet to get to the second Blasphemous and I'm still waiting for Silksong

 

Tony Hawk fest was last night and they confirmed that Bam will be a secret skater in the game along with an interview with him that showed snippets of his in-game model

 

Clair Obscur combat camera moves too much but turning it off just makes it look sad. At least it's an option tho bc I can't play darkest dungeon and beneath oresa without feeling sick

 

I finally ranked up enough in one of the areas in the skate alpha to move on to the next just to repeat the process for two more areas

at least this turned into my game to play music too

 

bro, your updates of playing this alpha makes me feel like it really needs some work lol

i've had the game in my xbox library for a while now. i probably won't get to it anytime soon bc i'm paying for gamepass again and want to utilize it as much as possible. but this is such a cool feature to add to a game.

I picked maelle’s ending knowing it is basically the worse of the two because I wanted to see what would happen. Watched the verso ending after and I was right but both have some negative implications depending on who’s perspective you align with. Still, verso saying “I don’t want this life” over and over pretty much broke me. However in the verso ending we are forced to put to bed this world we just explored with these people we bonded with to appease one family’s grieving. hard pill to swallow. I do think the themes of grief and specifically familial grief resonate quite well and I like how it hits on the inter turmoil of the family spilling out into the world and the implications it has for everyone else. I have so many more questions though about the world the Dessendre family exists in, who tf are the writers and what war is happening where they tried to kill Maelle and successfully killed verso??? and wtf was clea doing???

 

there’s so many funny glitches that it needs so much work

if you roll when off your board and jump if launches you like 8 feet high it’s hilarious

 

i apologize if i've mentioned this multiple times, but good god my wifi connection right now has been making it impossible to do anything in my room this past week
tomorrow morning (when my appointment to re-connect my wired internet service) can't come soon enough

i'm just trying to play Street Fighter 6 offline and my playstation keeps giving me the "communication error" pop up constantly
i checked the connection speed and download speed is 367 kbps & upload is 2.2 Mbps, jesus krist....

 

What, are you playing from a fallout shelter?

 

i have to use my roommates T-Mobile wifi thingy for the time being, and it's literally just less than 10 feet away from my bedroom to the living room, just the wall separating it from my devices and its this bad
