Chrono Trigger is a 1995 role-playing game (RPG) developed by Square for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It's the first game in the Chrono series and is considered one of the last console RPGs in the style of earlier Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games. The story follows Crono, a young hero who must travel through time to rescue Marle, a girl who gets sent through a dimensional rift during a malfunction at the Millennial Fair.

It's an RPG that came out in the mid-90s for the SNES, weaving a saga about time travel, alternate timelines, and an apocalyptic threat. It is considered to be one of, if not the, greatest games released from Square in the 16-bit era.

It is also known for only having two sequels, one of which was a visual novel for the failed Satellaview and is of dubious canon, and one official sequel for the PlayStation which is dubiously canon due to mixed feelings on how it resolved a dangling plot thread from the first game with a mix of "Character Derailment", "Back For The Dead", and "Giant Space Flea From Nowhere" TV tropes.

Clair Obscur update: just got to the monolith so have to think I’m getting pretty close to the end now. From all the optional areas I’m passing it seems like there will be a lot to do postgame (or NG+) which is good because I’m having so much fun with the battle system.
