Having a loaded Ipod is no where near as satisfying as having a stack of your favorite records!

I just don't see how going completely digital is more profitable than doing physical/digital but then again i'm entering territory I don't really know much about.

Yeah for the gaming companies. I posted an article about an hour ago that found that 66% of console gamers still prefer physical copies. PC gamers was a much lower number, but with console 66% is a high number! And the survey was from this past summer. I don't see that changing much in the coming years if it hasn't already.

well the companies would no longer have to burn cash on the plastic cases

if gamers prefer physical copies then why were 80% of all sales digital last year?

 

if you have a games art work that you like so much why not just print out some high res wall art of it?

surely thats more cool than putting cases on a shelf to pull out and look at from time to time

The last 2 albums I got were both in CD format

But that's also cuz I couldn't find em online so that sucked

I just think there is something much more personable about going to a store and buying a game and holding it in your hand.

Because that 80% includes PC gamers. If it were strictly console gamers it seems as if that number would be quite a bit lower.

I'm a huge proponent of digital for games. It's by far my favorite thing about this current generation of consoles. The way Microsoft does Game Pass, PSN's constant deals and flash sales, Switch and its portability, for me it just makes things 100 times more convenient in storage space, money spent and ease of use. Not having to worry about my games getting lost, scratched or broken is nice. Being able to be on a plane and quick swap to another game on the fly with my Switch because it's downloaded is nice as well.

However, that doesn't mean I want only digital. It doesn't make sense at this point. Parents like being able to buy their kids physical games and limit what they play, collector's like having limited editions and displaying their favorite games in their houses, a lot of people can't afford to keep buying additional storage space for consoles and others don't have consistent enough internet to make an all digital (especially all streaming) market worth it. I know people that have horrible internet and try to download even small games and it takes them 3+ hours. Can you imagine that for having an all digital library and all the patches/updates?

I love digital, but that's just my personal preference. I'd hate to see other gamers get shafted by making a complete transition.

 

Evil Within 2 and RE are worth it, as is Persona 5 for $25.

 

I didn't even think of storage. How annoying would it be to have to delete and re-install games to maintain the right amount of free space when you download a new game. Games are only getting bigger by the day as well.

 

imagine having enough storage where it doesnt matter

hhds are hella cheap now and ssds are looking better and better

also playing while installed on an ssd is such a pleasure
