I do like the idea of someone who purely plays digital games being able to get a diskless console for a cheaper price. I just hope it's not something we're all forced into.

 

Collectors, parents with kids. People with gaming budgets.

 

i don’t have a strong allegiance to physical or digital, it really depends on cost and replay value. like, i buy all my big Nintendo titles digitally, because games like Smash and Pokémon are very unlikely to ever go on a considerable sale, i’ll never want to trade them in, and i’ll want to have them ready to go at all times.

but for games like Assassin’s Creed and stuff that is quickly made obsolete by its next annual entry, i almost always hold out and get it on disc for $15 and once i beat it i will never revisit it

 

It’s definitely a good idea, but it won’t be the default for at the very least another decade if not longer I’d say

 

I’m a parent with kids I don’t want physical.

 

plus the gold coin payback on switch adds up fast

 

Sure, i'm a 30 year old with no kids and I do want physical, what's your point lol.

 

this would be cool. i don't see them being like "for this generation, you're being forced into digital haha good luck everybody!" i would think they would give us the option and we would be eased into nonphysical phase in the next next gen.

 

Yeah the infrastructure in the US is piss poor. Just heard someone saying they were happy with 4MB/s DL speed lol a few mins ago.

anecdotal idk the physicals are not that much of a collectible to me. i would understand if it used to come with the manual with vibrant art like it used too in the past but you just get a CD, plastic container and a flimsy digital print of the cover. i don't see the point other than offline

 

My point was just because I feel a certain way doesn't speak for every person my age nor in the same situation

I once liked physical, but once the flood destroyed my cases and manuals, I never looked back.

 

I miss manuals so much

I know they're wasteful but I love them

 

I'll be honest, looking at some numbers and it's surprising to me how much digital has taken over.

I stepped out of videogames for a solid 6 or 7 years and jumped back in this past year or so. 6 or 7 years ago digital was pretty brand new. It was there but I personally never considered it. So I guess that's where i'm coming from.
