Some people like the dialogue

And some don’t. Just as some people don’t like many others things and some do haha. I guess I need to place that disclaimer with everything I say from now on??

I just don’t like the format of having dialogue presented that way. If it was a cutscene I’d get it, but otherwise it just feels like a damn PowerPoint.

 

I feel the dialogue thing but a lot of the sub-stories that have it are written really great and they’re damn memorable for me haha

 

Unfortunately the format just auto makes me want to skip regardless of content haha. If it was a free cam I’d probably be okay with it! As far as I remember it wasn’t though.

 

I'm confused, is this specific to Yakuza or dialogue in general? Because a ton of games do it the same way.

 

In general. Just Yakuza has a LOT of it.

Yeah, it’s why games like Oblivion and others with dialogue trees infuriate me. I personally don’t have the patience to sit and read through it all. Detracts from gameplay for me, so I end up skipping it and losing interest in the story due to lack of info as a result! It feels super dated to me?

 

Okay. I never want anyone in here to ever again say that I’m the one that has bad opinions and doesn’t like good games. This is literally the worst, most 90s-ass take I have ever seen in this thread.

At the end of the day folks, clearly my opinions don’t fit with the majority here. That riles some of you up apparently. Let’s discuss that rather than just claim someone’s opinion is outright the worst thing you’ve ever read. Lord almighty.

Feels like this place is either one big inside joke, a place to shit on RDR2, circling over Sekiro/Persona/making a joke about it being on Switch, or just dismissing anybody else’s opinion if it doesn’t align with yours.

I joke about my shit opinions and play that up, but it is rather boring having everyone consistently refer to whatever I say as a bad take rather than engage in discourse about it.

Example - I referred to Switches as toys. Why? I’ve always felt a disconnect with handheld platforms. I personally don’t see myself connecting with a game on the move in the same way as I would sat in my living room with the curtains drawn. I don’t know specifically why, but handhelds have always felt gimmicky to me. Whether that’s my first gameboy colour, a PSP or Switches.

In the case of Switches, for the most part I don’t have any interest in the vast majority of Nintendo properties. I don’t care for Mario, or any of the thousand spin-offs it spawns. I tend to lean towards grittier, more adult games than are more serious in tone - these tend to be on the other platforms. I acknowledge that’s dismissive and there’s obviously those types of game on there, but it seems to me like they’re not exactly in abundance.

 

The Switch is a console too though lol

With a library I don’t particularly care for - which I explained haha

It being handheld isn’t the sole reason I don’t vibe with it and everyone here knows that if they read what I post before jumping on it as a bad take

In all seriousness though it’s like ONE mission that requires you rob someone’s house - I think even that is missable! If y’all spent your time opening drawers it’s because you chose to

I mean there’s new gaming info almost daily. If there’s a lull it doesn’t mean it needs to be filled with recycled jokes about RDR2 haha. It’s okay for this place not to be popping 24/7. This thread will continue to exist
