God of War is a good game but I wish I liked it ALOT more than I did. The combat mechanics were brilliant. I felt that the setting, enemies, and scale of the whole thing did not inspire 25% of the awe in me that 1 & 2 did. Also, the fun nihilism and ultra brutality of the originals was kinda gone.

 

Yeah that ES combat is hot garbage

 

Im not calling it good or not dated but I had fun with it for the reasons mentioned above

witchers combat looks like I wont like as much as ES

 

3rd > 1st person

 

most the time I agree but I think Im just nostalgic for ES, also the market is flooded with third person rpg/adventure games

 

its good to have a choice for perspective, RDR2 DID IT BEST

I call third person mode in Elder Scrolls, ‘mashed potato mode’ because its like your character is running through invisible mashed potatos. The weight/friction is off.

 

I’m not a hater. Xbox exclusives were often overrated last gen, PS4 exclusives are often overrated this gen. Same for underrated but in reverse. It’s usually mostly aligned with the broader narrative about the consoles.

 

First person would have been better yeah. GTA5 also was so wild in first person.

As someone who pretty much only reads about video games on this site it's interesting to see what's considered overrated and underrated without the context of everything else

I'm pretty sure that happened because it all started with someone picking up both games at the same time because they just got a PS4

 

Video game media (and I use the term loosely in the post-YouTube era) is so fractured now that you'd find a site/channel/whatever for every position in this thread.

 

Oh I don't interpret anything as gospel ever from any place hahaha I don't care about reviews and what's overrated/underrated or good/bad I just care if things look interesting to me and if I like them or not

Games are too expensive in my budget for me to take anything to heart and not try something I want (or vice versa)

I'm a Witcher 3 defender compared to some others here, but I don't think it was a groundbreaking game even within the context of the genre. I'm not sure why people say that. It was technically impressive, which helps a lot in the current climate. Otherwise it was just another open world fantasy game. It was good, I'd even say very good, but nothing crazy.
