PS+ is the Xbox Live Gold equivalent

Thinking about downloading Detroit since it's free. Will I enjoy this game? Heavy Rain gets like a 6.5/10 for me, but I recall this game making a huge splash when it premiered. Now I feel like I only hear negative things?
