the quality dipped too hard after revolver

 

Revolver played like a PS2 game which is fair enough because it actually was a PS2 game. What's RDR2's excuse

 

The only real knock I have against Zelda is I haven't felt like I need it. The only reasons I've ever owned DS's is because I've felt a dire need to play Pokemon but I've missed Zelda games due to not owning a Wii/WiiU and they haven't been felt necessary enough to buy either console for Zelda games. I just don't care to play half the games despite how amazing the other half are.

Storytelling too but it's not like the storytelling is bad, just not amazing, and Pokemon is the same in that regard if not worse.

 

I still do not like Majora's Mask. I really tried

 

If I put personal preference aside, then Zelda is the most rock-solid gaming franchise without question

 

Pretty much every home Nintendo console I've bought has been for Zelda, lol. I'd have bought them even if they had nothing else I wanted. Its the only series I'll buy a console for.

 

Halo is up there for me too

 

Yeah at this point it's a personal preference thing haha, like there's no argument for Zelda that I'll think is a bad argument, I certainly understand it being people's #1

 

Mario. Not only are the core Mario games good but you also have like a dozen other genres that Mario covers that are also good.

You gotta max out your rangers until you have the multiple attack skill them abuse the shit out of that with dual weapons

 

I was thinking just grinding for a ton of GP and making everyone a Ninja and spamming Zeninage

Mario's in the same boat as Zelda: There's an obvious strong objective case for it and it could easily be argued as the best. But it's just not my personal top franchise.

 

But overall who really cares

 

Mario is nowhere near the top for me

 

No bad game, a lot of absolutely amazing games, at least three or four candidates for greatest game of all time, perfected and unrivaled gameplay in both 2D and 3D...

...Mario, bitches.

 

Yeah I've never loved Mario as much as most but it's a great choice.

 

The same exact thing, word for word, could be said for Zelda as well

 

I think we take Mario for granted.

 

Yeah I’d argue mainline Zelda has some weaker games compared to mainline Mario, but Zelda is a valid pick. BotW definitely revived it’s position. I wouldn’t have been as open to the argument after TP and SW, I think.
