Although they were very careful to word it as "Cross-play will be supported" and not "Cross-play is going to happen". If Sony doesn't allow it, it won't happen whether its supported or not.

Someone who went to a private event for the game said it makes MW2 look like a Pixar movie and he believes some content will be cut to make the M rating.

because Call of Duty is a largely stagnant franchise with plummeting sales YoY and they need every bit of controversy they can get, be that through the inclusion of the mission or the removal.

 

This is not the first time they have done this. They had an optional airport mission on the first MW as well.

I can understand the thought process behind it, since war is a truly ugly, awful thing and something like that would reflect it. However, that is also in poor taste and pretty vulgar to even allow people to do that in a game. I’m hoping that doesn’t make it in the final release.

 

I’m not condoning this but Spec Ops: The Line dealt with a lot of emotional things soldiers go through and the choices they have to make.

Whatever they do, I hope it’s done tastefully or removed altogether.

 

I doubt they'll remove it. Maybe change how graphic it's shown on screen but they'll end up giving players an option to disable the graphic parts just like they did in MW2.

Infinity Ward has always relied on hype when they release their games. I'd be shocked if they cut it outright. This is the same company that wanted to use a school as a multiplayer map a few years ago.

 

I'm not going to be the guy who is going to question the narrative chops of ex-Naughty Dog people to put the scene into a context where it's palatable.

 

That piece from Austin Walker that I linked above is interesting. I don’t think I have the confidence in Call of Duty, a franchise that has solely operated on the fetishization of war since about 2007, to contextualize extreme war violence in a broader point about the consequences of war. I don’t think they’ve earned that trust based on where the series has been, including No Russian, which in my opinion was gross and unnecessary, and added nothing to the game.

 

this made sense when you read the "expanding universe part" of the description they had for it.

 

That’s a bummer but it makes me wonder what the gameplay is like. Maybe it’s teams of four heroes apiece fighting an enemy?

 

Hype has gone down a tad. We'll see.

 

I'm still hyped. The main concern would be an incomplete game at launch. As long as EA isn't involved, I'm sure we're fine!

 

I feel like incomplete at launch is GaaS' blueprint.

 

Damn, I'd love to play Portal again. Both of those game are perfection.
