Also, Microsoft is allegedly putting out two boxes right away. A more powerful one and a less powerful one, the second one being the mass market model, similar to how it is now. I don’t know if both are supposed to be more powerful than the PS5.

Here's the thing about power: it doesn't matter. Software is what matters. The PS4 got the early edge this generation because of Microsoft's mountain of mistakes, not because it was a stronger box, and they kept that lead because they crushed Microsoft on software. Once Phil Spencer took over, MS began to aggressively prepare for the next generation by buying up quality studios like Obsidian because Phil knows that software sells consoles. The average console gamer just wants to know whether Microsoft has anything to counter God of War and The Last of Us 2, not which consoles can better support 8K when literally nobody can take advantage of it.

 

Eh. Microsoft has put out a lot of good games-as-a-service and/or multiplayer focused games this gen, most of which I PERSONALLY would rather play than Sony’s story focused games. Sony hasn’t done a lot in that direction. I mean, Driveclub, really? So I think they’re both focusing on different audiences in that regard, which is actually good. Also Microsoft bought and opened a lot of studios, including single player focused studios, so stuff is coming.

Also most people buy consoles to play like Madden and CoD lol that’s what the average plays

I don't really care for multiplayer online games, I've always preferred single player story games and Sony has way more of those that are up my alley than Microsoft, and is the main reason I haven't touched my X1 in forever.

I don't think the price differential would've been nearly as big of a deal if it wasn't for all of the bad press it got for things like being a glorified cable box, requiring the Kinect, and the daily online check-in thing.

 

That was basically my way of saying I'm not buying Microsoft's console if they don't give me new Fable lol

 

Well, the Kinect made it 100$ more expensive, which is a lot. Don’t underestimate the number of people walking into a big box store and buying the cheaper of the two boxes that play NBA2K. Millions and millions of these these thinhs are being bought to play a couple of very mainstream games, most of them by people that have probably no idea about what else is going on.

 

Isn't Fable like heavily rumored to be a launch title or am I making that up? Would be quite a killer app for the NeXtbox's launch day.

 

At this point probably. Or maybe on both generations. Who knows at this point.

 

Save for Obsidian I really dislike all the studios they bought. I'm a huge Halo fan so I'll see but generally I have not been impressed with Microsoft's output this gen (heck yeah to Sunset Overdrive 2, I'd love that!)

 

I don't know if I could justify buying Persona 5 again.

That being said, I'll be buying it again.

we are literally on the verge of a new one coming out and if I really wanna play a game I'll just buy a console and then return it to Amazon when I'm done with the game lol.
