Same, never paid for a PS console. Don't plan to, since it's only an exclusive machine for me. I may snag a PS5 when it's cheap mid-gen.

 

500$ is what I’m expecting at least for a PS5, Microsoft I don’t know because they might be putting out wildy different models

 

Most consoles are sold at cost/a loss, especially at first. Except Nintendo.

I don’t want to ever buy a Microsoft console again after this gen. Just absolute bullshit in terms of exclusives. They just got lucky with the one x being a fucking beast.

@sophos34 has the right idea, the console is an investment. Sure, that’s a high price initially but you don’t have to re-buy it (hopefully) and if it truly bugs someone, they can always wait for the inevitable price drop in a couple years.

 

my X1 just collects dust so I don't see myself buying a next gen Xbox right away. PS5, depending on how much money I have would be a purchase for sure early in the going.

 

yeah my PS5 reluctance is keeping in mind where i’m at with costs in the near future and especially where i’ll be at fall of next year which will probably be when i’m going to be looking at getting married buying a home and finishing my degree and generally being so broke i will want to die

 

Owning a home is a money pit, and I've only been in the house for two months! But, I'm also a firm believer in mental health, and my video games make me happy and feel good so I will find a way to pay for it and make it work.

 

oh for sure on that last bit. i’ll still be playing games but it will prob be in the form of my original money pit which is my gratuitous backlog lol

all of my friends/family are on Xbox so that's where I'll most likely land again. I'm also excited for their future with all of those studio purchases. totally cool with being a generation behind on PS.

This will be the first time in my life where im financially able to drop 500-600 on something I want pretty easily, so I'll probably grab the ps5 pretty quick. I mainly game on PC so id give it some time to hear if there are big bugs or stuff.

 

with Cuphead coming to Switch i can come to the conclusion that Microsoft didn’t provide me any reason to give a fuck about Xbox this gen. i think that’ll change next time around with Obsidian etc. but there’s gonna need to be a few big titles before i jump back in there again.

 

It’s not different than a TV or a computer in that regard

 

I have had very little interest in the majoyof AAA games this gen, first party or no. I’m still stupid enough to buy one of these boxes day one, most likely whatever Microsoft puts out because I still love Gears and Halo.

Yeah, but those aren’t investments either, at least not in most cases. People misuse that term is all.

I also pre-ordered a Switch and slowly paid if off over the 3 months between placing the order and the release. I am 100% doing that again for whatever comes next, made it super easy to fit into my budget.

 

It is if you buy a ton of release day for the purpose of reselling at a higher cost once it's sold out like my piece of shit coworker does
