I was too. Trailer is cool. But give us something actually from the game please. It’s not like it’s too early given the game is set for November.

    Just a friendly reminder

I assume that SWJ:FO is gonna have a big E3 presence.

I mean I’ve been wanting a legitimately good single player Star Wars game so yeah it’s a selling point. Don’t care about multiplayer at all

Again, a game not having a multiplayer doesn’t make the singleplayer better. That’s not how it works, despite what commenters and the marketeers cuddling up to them might tell you. That is literally all I am saying.

Adding it doesn't either. Looks over at Duke Nukem Forever....

    That is one shiny turd!

That's exactly my point. So, using its absence (or, depending on the context, its presence) to hype a single player campaign is disingenuous and perpetuates long-lasting falsehoods, which is never a good thing in a fandom as toxic as that of video games.

Well that’s a bit disingenuous. If we are assuming both games would’ve hadn’t the same budget then obviously the absence of multiplayer will make the singleplayer better (or at least bigger)

Why is this thread literally always just Moose being grumpy and overly critical about every single thing. Is the verbiage used to market this game a little silly? Maybe, sure. But to act like there isn’t still a giant sector of players out there who exclusively play single player games, and are excited to see and hear about a single player big budget Star Wars action game is just wild. If that’s what it takes to get this crowd anticipating this game, who cares?

Like obviously this game could still be bad, blind hype can be a real thing, and it’s smart that people are clamoring for gameplay footage and more details. It’s also totally fine to surface level be very excited for the prospect of what this game could be. There’s room to be both objective with tailored expectations as well also being excited to play through a single player SW story.

What the fuck moose loves a lot of things. All those things just happen to be golf story

I play exclusively single player games and I agree with a lot of what Moose has said. You shouldn't try and sell your product by saying "it doesn't have these things, get excited!" Imagine if Nintendo's reveal of Sword and Shield was "it doesn't have island trials!"

I agree that it is a weird marketing scheme but considering the backlash from Battlefront II, I get it. Another EA game that launched with the capability of online AND micro transactions is Dante’s Inferno and that turned out fine BUT I would also not want to dive head first into a pool of water where there were reported sharks a year or so ago.

I definitely think it would be smarter for them to come out and say “this is a single player story heavy action adventure rpg” or whatever. With EA’s recent track record though, I do understand them coming out and saying what this game won’t be.

They basically did do that though, they made sure to let everyone know in the reveal about the return of gyms.

The whole “people can not like things” argument is fucking weak too. The games not even out yet. Let people be hype about something and shut your cynical ass mouth for once

I see what you mean, but they showed actual gameplay that included gyms, didn't just tell people what isn't in the game. Maybe not the best example, but was the first recent reveal that came to my mind.

We can’t realistically make assumptions about the budget available for a single player campaign based on it having a multiplayer or not. There’s so much that factors into that. It might have had a smaller budget for the campaign if it had multiplayer, BUT it might also just as well have an overall budget that is “too low” because it doesn’t have multiplayer and therefore is expected to make less money in the long-term. Impossible to say.

This is where I’m at too haha.

It makes 100% sense why EA made it a point to mention those things

Every choice in marketing is deliberate. They wanted to make sure we know there were gyms just like EA wants everyone to know that there are no microtransactions and no multiplayer in Fallen Order.

All I’m saying is that EA announcing this stuff is not a bad thing. In a way, they’re actually responding to fan feedback because all they’ve been hearing about this game since last E3 was that people wanted no microtransactions and no multiplayer in it. That everyone wanted a AAA single-player story-driven Star Wars game without EA’s bullshit. So, of course the first thing they’d do is say all those things. It’s just smart marketing. Also it’s just good to hear there are no microtransactions in general these days.

I made a very simple, one-off remark about the marketing of certain “features” being corny and/or disingenuous, a point which plenty of people “liked” btw, only for others to then misrepresent it, as usual. That’s not my fault. You’re even doing it again right now. I said nothing against people being excited for the game itself, or about the game for that matter. I also don’t care it doesn’t have multiplayer. All of that should be very obvious to anyone with basic reading comprehension, yet here we are again. That goes for others too. Comparing “no multiplayer” to “Gyms are back” completely misses the point.

I’m sorry for not fawning overy every fucking thing that is actually meaningless once you think about it for three seconds.

You’re very welcome to block me, it’s there for a reason

And of course it makes sense for EA. Again, I never said it doesn’t. I said it’s bad, corny, disingenuous and potentially harmfull. As are many successes marketing campaigns. Falling for it AND getting mad at the person pointing it out, and defending it though, that’s on anyone of you it applies to lol
