Anthonydarko is a name I truly hate, I hate how much of a horse’s ass I was under that handle back when. My PSN handle is the last vestige of that and judging by the games that are said to have problems, I’ll take my chances and change it.

I loved using Alfyn, his concoct skill is broken af if utilized correctly. His path action would be redundant with Cyrus, however. Plus there's a super OP axe in his home village that has like a +200 attack. It's a 1% steal tho lol.

With your setup you have axes, bows, spears, and staves, which leaves swords and knives. I think that's what Tharion's default weapons are. Olberic also uses swords but that would leave daggers open.

 

I may or may not have spent a full hour stealing and reloading my save in order to get that at the start of the game when Alfyn was like my 3rd character recruited lol

 

Finally changed my PSN handle, Anthonydarko is officially dead.

for swords i’ve been summoning Linde as H’aanit lol. not always the most effective, but when the AoE procs, it’s chef kiss. good tips though - i need to use steal more often than i do, may spend some time backtracking to steal from everyone in the places i can fast travel to lol

damn somehow i’ve never considered soft resetting after scrutinize/steal fails. you just saved me a bunch of instances of $2,000.

 

Yeah it's super easy to save/reload in this game. Sometimes it takes like an hour to get something, sometimes I'll get it on like the 4th try.

Ni no Kuni II is one of the more frustrating games I've ever played, but I def put around 100 hours into it.

 

One thing I feel we can rule out is that they don't harvest life.
