i don’t think From is obligated to do anything, i have never played any of their games, i have never been unable to complete a game i wanted to complete, i have no dog in this fight. but some of the arguments are reall weird

It’s not asinine at all, you’re just framing the discussion in a way that distorts the comparison. The argument isn’t “video games shouldn’t have accessibility features.” That would be a ridiculous and indefensible thing to say. The argument isn’t even “video games shouldn’t have an easy mode” (which, again, is not the same thing and shouldn’t be conflated as such). The argument is literally just that the creator(s) of a work of art should not have to to alter their vision of what that art should be for any reason. Whether it’s a movie or a game or a book or whatever.

 

to say that an easy mode doesn’t equal accessibility is just as much of a distortion, since it could encompass a wide range of adjustments from more forgiving response times to visual indicators to pretty much literally anything. not everyone needs the same amount of help as everyone else and any step is a step. i literally said i don’t think they should “have” to do anything.

But also for the record just tossing in an easy mode is not accessibility, and even if it could *potentially* be considered accessibility then it’s the laziest, least-effort way for a dev to say they’ve put “accessibility features” into a game. Every disability is different and causes different difficulties for people. A true accessibility feature suite would encompass far more than just a general, developer-determined, one-size-does-not-fit-all easy setting.

 

right and i have pretty much said some of those things. obviously endless customization would absolutely be an ideal world, nothing i said could be considered close to arguing that, but doing something is better than nothing and there are people in here advocating for the nothing

 

like if an adjustment to a game makes it more accessible for some than that is an improvement and a base for further improvements

 

anyways i need to know ideal Octopath builds for people that have played it. H’aanit, Cyrus and Tressa all feel like vitals to me because H’aanit’s monster taming is fun and Cyrus and Tressa have the most crucial path actions imo but i don’t know who to put in slot 4

re: Tressa, i didn’t mean her path action as much as her thief abilities in battle. fleecing thousands of $ off bosses has sped the game up a lot for me.

 

Accessibility features and an easy mode aren't the same, yes. However, if you put a large amount of accessibility features in a game that should ideally be in there, then turning many of them on would make the game easier for people that don't actually "need" them, should they choose to do so.

 

Soo apparently PSN users can change their names for free now.

Right but that’s not adding an easy mode. Those people would be misusing features that aren’t intended for them.

To people who were talking about going back to FFXIV earlier:



FFXIV is one of the games that will have issues (for the time being) if you do a name change and you'll pretty much have to restart.

 

"Misusing" is nonsense imo, you can play the game you paid for however you want, no matter whom the features have been actually made for etc. Especially an offline game. It's almost no different than cheesing a boss.

As I clearly said, it's not an easy mode, but it would make the game easier for those customers who want it as well as more accessible to those who need it. So, two birds, one stone. No-brainer to me, the right thing to do even, if you have the budget of course.

I can't believe there still isn't an easy mode in BOTW that replaces the dungeons with Golf Story courses

 

I wanna change mine badly hahaha but I've sunk so much into FFXIV and I like going back to it now and then and definitely do not ever want to start over on it

If that ever gets resolved (or if I ever fully switch to PC for FFXIV) I'ma switch mine
