I spent an entire day as a kid trying to beat Gears of War with a guitar hero controller.

 

Same except Resident Evil 4 with my old roommate. Very, very hard.

 

Went back to Dark Souls on Switch, bustin up the Catacombs aw yea

 

This frustrates me even more reading now it was on NG++ where the enemies are twice as hard! Player is crazy good.

 

As arrogant as it sounds, the coverage this game is getting in terms of gameplay is infuriating. It’s as if nobody knows how to play it at all.

As someone who’s enjoyed Mario Kart and CTR - CTR was always leaps and bounds better in my opinion. The drifting and boosting mechanics were excellent and it actually took skill. Nigh on everybody I’ve seen playing this seems to be terrible at it, whether it’s not drifting, not boosting, slamming straight into walls or not using the jumping mechanic. It’s really sad to see so much bad gameplay of it, because they’re doing a seriously excellent remake and I’m beyond excited to get my hands on it. It’s a game that I’ve genuinely spent years perfecting.

While it’s ridiculous to assume every journalist should have an encyclopaedic knowledge of how to play every game, numerous gaming sites have claimed to be avid fans of the game and yet they send someone completely inept at playing it to the conventions. It doesn’t showcase the game for what it is. And none of this applies to your comment - I’m not targeting this at you. Just in general. Look up gameplay on YouTube and the comments are chock full of people saying the exact same thing. Not in a ‘oh I’m better’ way, but in a ‘for goodness sake please use the basic core mechanics of the game’ sense. It hurts to watch.

I’m not blind to the argument that it should be accessible for all from the get-go, but CTR was far ahead of Mario Kart and it took a lot more skill. That’s why so many loved it.
