I was a Paladin but think I might go Scholar or Bard.

 

I like Paladin but I definitely don't recommend it for a first run through FFXIV just because it can be a drag when dealing with story stuff

 

FWIW it's a lot easier to level classes/side classes now too thanks to Palace Of The Dead
