I mean, I know what you're saying and I get it. I'm not debating the fundamentals of opinions and such. I'm just saying...

How could you possibly trust someone about video games when they are that wrong?

All that being said video games to a certain extent have measurable aspects, although of course those measurable aspects can be intentionally "bad" to make a point, which makes it all more complicated

Hahaha, I mean. Opinions are opinions and whatever. That's all fine and good. But someone who reviews games for a living shouldn't spout such nonsense for a critically acclaimed series and expect people to take them seriously.

Like I said, good criticism is basically dead

The way around it is finding people whose taste sort of align with yours, but like that shouldn't be how criticism works

I think IGN's Game Scoop is good. Legitimately one of the only good things left on that site. Also Peer Schneider is a class act and he deserves a lot of credit for actively working with his community and trying to make things better.

Kotaku and Polygon both have really horrible policies where they basically just delete or deny any comments on their site that vehemently disagree with their viewpoints. They don't even offer a dialogue most the time. They'll skirt around it sometimes, but they are notorious for being one-sided.

And I'm not talking about like "oh no, feminist agenda!" or anything like that because I'm not one of those horrible people. They just can't be wrong.

I think Game Scoop is often silly and they also get caught up in hype, BUT some of their cast members as well as Peer Schneider more often have interesting things to say than many others because they have context, they know video games. Jeff Gerstman is another one of those people.

I think the silliness and hype is fine most the time. It's not trying to be something like Kotaku Splitscreen or something where you have someone elitist like Jason Schreier talking all the time.

The problem for me is finding people who have a good balance of being professional and personal. I like knowing what people's favorite games are and what they don't like, but then sometimes you get some people who hate 9/10 JRPGs reviewing JRPGs and I'm like...but why?

Sly Cooper is the best now I want to go play them all again. Ran through the remastered ones (and played 4 for the first time) a couple years ago and I thought they held up

It astonishes me how someone could say that franchise isn't good.

Edit: my friend who hates video games as a whole has legitimately one exception and that is Sly Cooper. Something about it clicked with him.

Unity is easily the worst that isn't the first one though

I will say once they patched Unity it was much much better, but year, it's still pretty rough.

I couldn't finish it, and I've finished every other AC game(apart from Rogue, which I've never played). Found it really boring.

That's probably the worst part of it. It's not that it was mechanically flawed or the environment wasn't cool or whatever, it just felt really hollow.

I’d play the first one over Unity any day Unity is one of the most boring video games I’ve ever played I had to force myself through it.

I'm in a big resurgence of Witcher 3 (beat it once on normal difficulty, playing through on Deathmarch and actually doing DLCs), but after that Odyssey looks like my next move. I had trouble with Origins on my PC, so I may just grab it for PS4 until I get a new graphics card.

I'm not excusing the tech problems a lot of people had (not me though), but there was a lot of good stuff in Unity. In terms of atmosphere creation especially it was remarkable.

  25. Dude is such a tool.

Twitch bans are so inconsistent that it’s dumb. He’ll be unbanned in like a week, repeat saying something stupid, banned again, unbanned.

One of my buddies got a week ban for accidentally showing how much he makes off of twitch.
