after hitting a wall the other day, something clicked yesterday and I was able to finish a bunch of mini bosses with relative ease.

so i figured out how some of the combat works which is fun. i feel like I can finish Bloodborne after playing this lol.

just a question for perilous attacks, there are 3 types: sweep, thrust and grab?

Sekiro is the best FromSoftware game and I’ve loved every second of it it is my dom and I am the obedient sub. FromSoftware owns this ass. They creampied me but with good games

Sekiro is absolutely whooping my ass, still hitting wrong buttons now and then and dying as a result and feeling like a moron

 

On a serious note I do love it and I’ve loved every second of it. It strikes me as the game Miyazaki has always wanted to make but couldn’t quite get the pieces to fit together so he made some other games with similar mechanics.

For me the framing of Sekiro is like how I had to reframe Bloodborne when I first played it. Say for the sake of discussion Demon/Dark Souls are the base that BB and Sekiro build off of in different directions. BB takes the faster two handed aggression of DS and gives you more tools to succeed with that, quicker dodges and the rally mechanic coupled with the trick weapons. Sekiro feels like the slower shield based DS playstyle dialed back even further but still giving you new tools to deal with the challenges ahead. Most From games have had awful stealth sections so I was apprehensive of a game with that as a core feature but I think the stealth and mobility are great additions.

These are just random tips and some confirmations that have happened via the subreddit, forums, Twitter, etc

-unless it has a Kanji symbol it can be blocked/parried. Even attacks that look like they can’t be, they absolutely can. You also recover posture faster while blocking so get some distance and just hold it down.

-resurrecting at the spot you died does NOT spread the Dragonrot but resurrecting at the sculptures do. The item needed to remove this is actually more abundant than originally thought, you can straight up buy it from some merchants and it becomes easier to find as you go. Likely to give players a chance to at least experience a couple side quests on their first play through. I like the mechanic, I think it’s the logical progression of hallowing.

-you can pick enemies off with stealth, they’ll forget about you if you get spotted so just run away and wait if you need to thin the herd.

-use prosthetics! They’re very powerful but niche. That said they have some weirder uses you can play around with. Adding on to that you can mix up your jumps and dodges as needed you don’t HAVE to use your jump if you don’t have the timing right. Only thing is your dodge doesn’t have I-frames so you have to be more precise.

 

i feel like an asshole for shitting on Octopath cause now all i wanna do is go play it. admittedly a large part of that is how fuckin gorgeous it is. i have used the screenshot feature 10x more in that game than the rest of my Switch play time combined
