I have however also said that I don't think streaming will be the death of the console or physical games AAA games anytime soon, because of of what you pointed out. I think they will co-exist for quite a while. That however means that the market will probably look somewhat different for the console manufacturers, especially Sony (provided Microsoft turns to streaming etc. that is).

Even the people who do have decent internet are at the mercy of their providers in the US at least and I don't have any faith that a company like Comcast or Spectrum wouldn't do something to fuck us over.

One more thing, regarding ownership and so on: I'm old too, I like owning shit, especially physical. I however am under no illusion that many of the major post-2010 non-Nintendo games I own will work in 20 years when I have to buy a used Xbox One/PS4 etc. to play them after mine broke down. Required server connections and day one patches combined with servers being turned off left and right have already ended that.

I think Microsoft is ready. It was the vision initially with launch of the ONE to be completely streaming, along with the disc less ONE, cloud gaming, games pass, EA access, etc.
