I played BB co-op because I fucking suck at that game but the world is so cool

  6. Nameless King is hard because of the camera in the arena, not the fight itself imo

Because it directly connects to their service via wifi, without having to connect to the hardware you’re using via bluetooth first, which essentially means it will have lower latency than other controllers (which, depending on your internet speed and personal sensitivity, might just make the difference). Pretty cool idea actually.

You could also use any wired controller by the way (if the hardware supports it) instead because as far as I understand it that would also reduce the latency on Stadia compared to a Bluetooth controller. As far as wireless goes though, the Google controller would definitely have lower latency than a Bluetooth one.

I just realized that technically I could just have a stadia app on the Xbox one. Lol

Got Sekiro at 9:00 from my local GameStop. This is no joke. Very tough, even just at the beginning.

No, but what’s stopping google from creating a standalone app.

    Except maybe Microsoft haha

some offscreen footage from a Stadia demo is on /r/games, and there is real noticeable input latency

I mean, who knows how the internet was at that location. Most articles I read based on the experiences of people that were in the beta (Project Stream) said that it worked surprisingly well and that they had very little issues. I'm not trying to defend Stadia really, but it feels like people are too overeager to shit on this lol

idk man, it’s the first showroom demo of the tech. it’s also Google who have no excuses to not come prepared imo, there are multiple alternatives to showing up to a convention and using bog standard WiFi. i think we are going to hear a lot about people wanting to shit on it and see a lot of people trying to defend it but all i did was comment on the only footage out there

I understand what you're saying, but I also think a long running beta (of which there is also footage, I think) is more representative of quality than one showroom demo

to make my stance clear i am totally for game streaming as a concept. i actually only own 7, soon to be 8, physical games between my Switch and my PS4, but have hundreds digital between them, and my cheap ass rarely ever buys a game at retail price. i think there is going to be a large gap between game streaming’s introduction and any sort of hypothetical market dominance because it behooves everyone to have an option between streaming and owning a hard copy in theory. publishers and devs get a smaller cut of a big revenue stream from those that don’t wanna drop $60 through streaming and the full price from those that do.

i wouldn’t wanna do immersive experiences like an Elder Scrolls like that, though. if i didn’t have a way to play that locally in a stable HD state id be real upset

I wouldn't be so sure about that. That really depends on how the different services will handle it. That math can get really complicated really fast. Don't forget that platform holders now get big cuts of that 60$. Also Microsoft themselves now put their games (and occasionally third party games) on their subscription service on day one, which means it must work out for them somehow. EA does something similar.

Microsoft could easily be taking a loss on game pass and balancing it with sales from other departments. It's not like MS is hurting for money as they are anyway so it would make a lot of sense for them to take a temporary hit when they know they can benefit from it in the long run.

There's a bunch of hypotheticals about streaming that make me more than cautious about it, but it ultimately sends my spider senses off because I don't like the idea of not owning anything and knowing that even if Google (or any other future service provider) could do a great job that my ISP could do and charge whatever they want knowing I need them to be able to enjoy that content.

What happens to the used games market? What about people in rural parts of the US? Kansas, West Virginia, New Mexico, Montana barely get 25 Mbps consistently. Also, here's a little infographic that's just a reminder that the US needs to invest more support into expanding and strengthening the nation's infrastructure.

I think they wouldn't push the idea of Games Pass as hard as they do if they wouldn't think that the math will work out better for them, if not now then later (like you said). Taking a hit now to have better numbers later is however completely normal, so I don't see why other publishers wouldn't do that. All I'm saying is, the money discussion is a lot more complicated than "60$ vs 10$" or whatever. It's very hard to say and depends on a lot of factors.

As far as the internet infrastructure goes, I am aware. I've addressed this before too. Basically, even though many people don't have good enough internet, millions and millions and millions of "gamers" do, which means it's still a smart move for a company like Google to do, especially because they don't have to sell expensive hardware. I have however also said that I don't think streaming will be the death of the console or physical games AAA games anytime soon, because of of what you pointed out. I think they will co-exist for quite a while. That however means that the market will probably look somewhat different for the console manufacturers, especially Sony (provided Microsoft turns to streaming etc. that is).
