My favorite part of the first Condemned was when you were exploring the school and you opened the locker and found a guy in there who had been skinned alive or something and then you turn to walk away and he grabs you and pulls you into his face. Super creepy.

 

I haven't really played any horror games this gen come to think of it. What are the good ones I'm missing?

 

Horror games always interest me so much yet I get scared of them so easily

 

Now I'm thinking about the mannequins in an abandoned department store with christmas music playing in the background and I will be having nightmares tonight.

 

I think Until Dawn is this gen so I would suggest that along with RE:7. Other than that, I can't really remember any that stand out to me. I heard mixed things about Evil Within 2.

 

Oh man. I loved that part.

The junkies were great in that game too.

 

I'm not a big fan of horror games, but have played pretty much every RE game (aside from the more recent ones) and I'm excited for REmake2. I can handle horror where I have some means of defending myself in the game, though it remains pretty nerve wracking.

Condemend is probably the greatest horror experience of all time. One of the first games to really nail an investigation mechanic. I wish I still had my Xbox One, I'd replay it.

Oh shit, the investigation was so cool. What was the name of the serial killer? The Matchmaker or something? He'd like chop of a finger or something?

 

Disney’s Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse is about as horror as I can take from a game lmao

I played RE4 and Eterndal Darkness out of curiosity but it took me a long time to play through them.

 

Serial Killer X if I remember right, but there was a bunch of different killers I think and the SKX was the one imitating all of them? Maybe I'm getting confused with Hannibal. Haha

 

Well there was that one, but there was a different one that you started with. They like positioned the dead bodies in certain ways or something. I think one was at a dinner table or something?

 

You're right, it was the matchmaker. You later find him killed by SKX. Memory is a bit foggy, can't believe that game came out over 10 years ago haaha

 

Condemned 1 & 2 were so great. So many good memories with those, they scared the shit out of me

Yea Evil Within was the one I had in mind. I've never played Until Dawn so maybe I'll check that out. I've also never really played any RE, but do you think I could jump in at 7? Is it like a continuous thing or can you just hop in anywhere?

 

Horror genre isn’t my thing why would I intentionally want to be scared

 

7 is a great place to jump in because it's very self-contained and it's more horror oriented compared to 5 & 6 which were action games with horror elements.

 

yeah i second this. also, if you enjoy it enough and can handle the outdated graphics and some mechanics, 4 would be a good place to go. ive had friends try to play like 0 or 1 and always get frustrated with the mechanics and quit but 4 was still accessible enough

 

Until Dawn and RE7 are the only horror games that i’ve enjoyed recently but i’d love more of them to catch me. Outlast didn’t spook me at all
