Yeah I don't post in A1 anymore and pretty much just lurk here mostly (sometimes I'll chip in but idk I'm not very knowledgeable so I don't always have much to offer) so haven't been around as much in general

 

Seems like it, yeah. The word has been that Microsoft is prepared to sell the Series X at a bigger-than-normal loss just to be able to say it's cheaper than the PS5. And Microsoft is in much better shape as a company to take huge losses on the new consoles than Sony is. I don't think there's any world where PS5 is cheaper than Series X.

Undercutting like that is such an monopolistic strategy that i can't see them actually doing it. At least in other markets it would be considered illegal.

I know, I mean that Anthony said bigger than usual. I don't think they'll do it because at the very least it's a bad look.

 

All I know is launch and spring titles will be much better than 2013/2014.

Sony selling the PS5 at the same price as the Series X would be a bad look from a PR standpoint. It's weaker in nearly every way and by quite a bit. But I don't think they have much of a choice. Microsoft has never had any issue selling their consoles at a loss.

 

You have a way better outlook on the situation than the majority of people will lol. Most people will just see that it's, like, $150 less and think Microsoft is being pro-consumer. I don't think most people consider it a bad look at all.

Also I've read this rumor from multiple outlets so I'm pretty sure it's for real.

I don’t know, it’s not really a bad thing if they make up for the loss through subscriptions and software sales. That’s very common.

 

Gamers only care about themselves so obviously they would think it's a good thing lol

 

If I were to guess, the PS5 with the disc drive will sell at $500 and the Series X will as well. The PS5 with no disc drive will be at $400. And then Xbox Series S(Lockhart) will be sold at $300.

Also it's important to remember that Sony didn't really "undercut" them last time, Sony just wasn't forcing people to pay for a $100 camera peripheral that was unnecessary then and remains unnecessary now.

 

Undercutting another company by taking losses that the other company can't afford is bad because if done right it would create a monopoly and a monopoly is obviously bad lol.

 

In the gaming space, Sony has control of more markets than Microsoft. It won't create a monopoly worldwide. But in America? It's somewhat plausible but still unlikely.

 

I hope Microsoft paid Ubisoft to make a Splinter Cell for Xbox. They sure wouldn’t make one on their own.
