Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

The Black Ops name matters for a lot of people, especially those who skip games made by IW instead of Treyarch. Having the BO name in it definitely is important, as stupid as it sounds.

This years game is gonna be odd tho. It was originally going to be Ravens game with assistance from Sledgehammer, but I remember reading last year that Raven and Sledgehammer were not cooperating well with one another and gave the lead to Treyarch, while Raven and Sledgehammer continue working on the campaign.

Lol I wish I didn’t remember this info. Useless information to have stored in memory.

I've consistenly bailed on every COD game that was getting too futuristic, so World War 2 was the first one I had bought since Black Ops 2. Then I got the new Modern Warfare since my friends did. I preferred World War 2 TBH. Not that I'm not having fun with MW, but I'm not as into the more 'realistic', Battlefield style gameplay as I was all the CODs before this one.

World At War is probably still my favorite.

Yeah this is what happened. My biggest question is what this means for next year's game. Is IW going to have to go again right away? I feel like the franchise has benefited from having a 3-year dev cycle instead of 2 years like it used to be. Sledgehammer and Raven feuding so badly really threw a wrench in the system.

I wonder if it'll get announced at Sony's supposed June event. Activision usually reveals the game on their own and then provides more details at E3, so that would track. Modern Warfare was revealed on May 30, 2019, so a reveal this week or next, followed by a deeper dive at the PS5 State of Play, is a possibility.

why can’t it just be an expansion pack for MW

Regardless Sony will butcher the reveal like everything else

Last year, when we found out what was going on with Treyarch taking over this year's game, I had a theory for how they could "reset" the 3-year dev cycle. Basically, once the game ships this year, Sledgehammer and Raven would then spend the next year developing a major expansion to both the 2020 game and to Warzone, in lieu of a full game next year. The expansion would be paid and cost like $40. Then, the following year (2022), Infinity War would come out with a game and then Treyarch in 2023 and we'd be back on track.

Don't think they'd forego the chance to ship a full-priced product next year but it would make the most sense to get the 3-year cycle going again. That breathing room is pretty essential for these studios to not get completely burnt out, imo.

That's if it even happens at all. I'm basically at the point where I'm expecting to wake up one morning in November and hear that PS5 is suddenly on sale.

Honestly find it absolutely hilarious how riled up people seem to be getting about Sony and the reveal of the PS5.

Id pay full price for an expansion if it was a full games worth of content. Idk I feel like it’s just gonna hurt the MW playbase.

they don't give a phuck about the previous years COD player base by mid-year after release.

The game is a yearly release, like Sanch said they don't care about the prior year's playerbase so long as the new game sells. I just think that an expansion to Black Ops Cold War is the only thing that could realistically get put together in only a year, which would give Infinity Ward an extra year of dev time on (I assume) Modern Warfare 2.

But I'm probably wrong and Infinity Ward is currently crunching to get Modern Warfare 2 out for next year. I would just prefer them to go back to the three-year cycle both for the devs' sake and for the sake of the games' quality.

I mean, it's really not. Every little morsel of information they release breaks records for likes or views or retweets or whatever. Why would they willingly drop everything at once if releasing a picture of a controller spawns so many articles, tweets and general hype?

Not to mention they still have two huge releases to come on their previous platform.
