Oh shit dicey dungeons is coming to switch

 

yeah thats exactly how my first impressions are shaking out - it doesn't do anything new but it seems like they took all the best parts from their inspirations and knew what made them fun. some things that have really stood out to me are how often NPC dialogue is adjusted to provide information, or at least fit contextually, with whatever quest you have set to active. the writing is actually good as well, so they feel like real people.

i also love how often exploration is rewarded. this game is good at feeding you treats if you feel like fucking around and seeing where you can and can't jump or climb to. the base combat is simple but punchy, but with the six battle skills i feel like i can do all sorts of cool shit

this is gonna be the quarantine win for sure. what is the online component like?

Earlier this year it was delayed to May 29th and then a couple weeks ago it was delayed “indefinitely” and then after the leak it was moved to June 19th.

The first Uncharted is genuinely a bad game. As short as it is it still is miserable to play.

 

LOU2 and Ghosts of Tsushima are the only games I’m playing this summer

I don’t entirely disagree, but that the PS3 wasn’t successful is a false narrative, same as the narrative that the Xbox One isn’t successful.

But yes, success in one gen doesn’t mean anything for the next. Look at the WiiU.

 

I never said the PS3 wasn’t successful, I said that Sony’s approach in the run-up to the PS3’s launch failed miserably, which it did, and mainly because they got too complacent and cocky after having dominated with the PS2.

 

Ah yes. I just jumped the gun because so many do. They definitely messed up the launch, as did Microsoft last time.

 

Yeah I just think that it really seems like they’re taking the “screw it, they’ll buy it anyway” approach to some degree again this time which....did not work out for them back when the PS3 launched. At all.

 

They might also just be scrambling. I haven’t seen the numbers but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pandemic is really hurting Sony, whereas Microsoft has had an amazing quarter because people are buying home office software.

 

I think the pandemic is even more reason to get the hype train rolling. Captive audience, basically no other gaming news to compete with, you’re riding high off the success of the PS4, it’s really bizarre they aren’t taking advantage of this news vacuum right now. Especially considering how hungry people are for news. Instead they’re letting Microsoft essentially take the lead. And while that’s a good thing when it comes to letting them announce their price point first, it’s really not a good thing when it comes to them staging a whole third-party next-gen showcase with Xbox branding before we’ve even seen what the PS5 looks like lol

 

Sony gets a massive advantage by waiting and seeing what Microsoft does first. They get to counter. They can look at Microsoft's plan then evaluate and adjust their own accordingly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the current world situations have changed some things, but I think overall their strategy remains the same.

 

Also, the console is just a box, it plays games. Unless it looks like a giant swastika or a dildo, it's just a hunk of plastic and metal that plays games. The games and features are what matters.
