I would personally argue that FFXV is at least “good” but other than that, you’re right.

 

Yeah but 2006 was the twelfth game of the series. That's not saying much. That's also saying FFXIV isn't a good game when you could easily argue its the best MMORPG of all time.

The entire FFXIII trilogy is on there. If you have a One X, they're enhanced too. They even replaced the compressed FMVs from the 360 with better quality versions. The back compat team did more work than some development teams do on legitimate remasters. Lol.

 

It's not the greatest MMORPG of all time though...

I really don't like it. Combat is horrible and the main characters are some of the most insufferable characters in a game ever.

 

I wasn’t comparing the quality of the franchises, I’m just saying that DQ deserves more money and attention from Square, especially if you look at how much of both they give FF.

DQ will still sell millions in Japan regardless of budget(and JRPGs in general), whereas western gamers are critical of anything that doesn't have a big budget, so if Western gamers cared about DQ(yes XI was quite popular here, but still nothing compared to FF) then SE would invest more money in the franchise. That's what I was implying with my comment lol

Looking at Tales of Arise gives me hope that we might get more big budget JRPGs in the future.

 

Like, the amount of potentially great cutscenes in DQ11 that have been replaced with a black screen with some text on it is depressing, especially when I think about all the very expensive nonsense they made me watch in FFXV lol
