Not that this means anything, but folks here questioning Sony’s marketing plan for PS5:

DualSense reveal Instagram likes 4.3 million in 24 hrs.
Xbox Series X reveal Instagram likes 1.8 million in three months.

If that’s anything to go by, on that platform at least, a controller reveal garnered almost 4x the interest that Microsoft’s entire console did.

The same goes for the PS5 logo reveal v Xbox console video. Sony is getting far more social engagement. Doesn’t equate to sales but it certainly says something.

 

Xbox only has 10m followers on IG, while PlayStation has 24m. I wouldn’t take the most likes as a way to measure how well the marketing has been because PS will always have more likes by those numbers.

 

Your point also raises the same argument though. There’s clearly more online interest in PS.

 

PS definitely has a wider fan base worldwide. Xbox doesn’t sell well in Europe or Japan. Makes sense for PS to have more followers on social media.

Determines what you mean by fine. Xbox one sold roughly 10m in Europe from 2013-2018, the Switch has sold that many in less than 2.

Xbox 360 only sold 7 million in Europe out of its 80 million worldwide sales.

I wouldn’t say Xbox sales are fine in Europe.

 

10 million of ~40 Million isn't bad. And Switch has sold better everywhere

 

Xbox One has sold slightly better than the 360 did in Europe. The sales are actually probably a bet higher than 10 million. I forgot Microsoft stopped reporting Xbox sales numbers in 2018.
