Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I got like halfway through Inquisition and couldn't bring myself to keep going on it. Definitely felt like a slog midway through and just wasn't interesting to keep me invested after I started off initially enjoying it

The plot is pretty damn terrible haha, but I enjoy slogs for some sick reason and I really enjoy the mechanics, i'm about halfway through too and still into it.

I loved Xenogears on PS1 and then never played another Xeno game ever. Very strange.

Also this weekend I found a video game store that opened up in my neighborhood, debated picking up Final Fantasy Anthology, but also don't want to have to bust out any old consoles. Quite a dilemma

that doesnt track for me tbh, there is so much to find while exploring in DQI whereas XC2 feels barren a lot of the time to me and i prefer the straight up MMO lite combat of DQI to XC2's active time battleish combo chaining

Have you played 5 and 6 before?

I know I never played 5. But I think I played six back on snes when it was called three. But I could be mistaken. But I played a FF game on snes and based on my half ass research it had to be that game of another one.

6 is the best IMHO but the job system in 5 is fun as hell. I never played the PS1 ports of those ones tho

Both excellent games and hold up very well imo.

Only 37% percent. That's a lot lower than the last Xbox Live Gold numbers I saw, though those are like ten years old at this point so who knows. Anyway, that's interesting. It also once again shows the discrepancy between the actual average console owner and most vocal gamers.

You've got to keep in mind that there are now over 106 million PS4s sold. 38.8 million is not a number to scoff at in this context. A lot of this is improving and plays an important part of setting up for PS5. This means Sony has nearly 39 million people who are already invested and paid money into their ecosystem which makes it much more likely for those people to stay with PlayStation next generation.

I remember hearing a few times how Microsoft doesn't give numbers anymore and I'm honestly not surprised. Last I read, from an interview from 2018, they had 59 million Xbox Live subscribers. However, when you take into account that their console sales are only around 41 million based on consumer reports, etc. So you have to think about how many people are now shifting to PC from console, how much focus Microsoft wants to put into their console division and how they're going to retain that number and find ways to make it grow.

The obvious answer for Microsoft is Game Pass. I think Game Pass is an absolutely killer service that will really push Microsoft forward as long as they don't pull any weird moves in the next year or so. Sony has adjusted PS Now pricing and also allows for PC play, but they do a horrible job of advertising and have been incredibly inconsistent with the quality of the streams, but they're trying to offset that by allowing you to download games now.

I'm very curious to see how this all shapes up in the next year.

Nintendo doesn't matter when it comes to online.

Also there are still some Gold subscribers on 360. Some of those CoD games still have somewhat active player bases believe it or not.

But yeah I’m not saying that 38 million is bad, I’m just saying that it says something that the average console (or at least PS4, but it’s still something) owner doesn’t have a subscription to play online etc.
