i picked MHW back up on Sunday and struggled to get hooked again. a lot to relearn there and it was impossible to find an online session that was consistently questing.

how do you think the realism works against it? just curious.

Im not very far in the missions but I was hoping and optimistic that Rockstar would evolve their structures a fair bit. Having tired of them from playing so much of their other games.

I think the overarcing plot of 4 is one of the best video game plots ever by a good bit.

replaying its missions today would likely be pretty rough though. Although I do remember having a blast with the last several hours of the game. The stakes felt so high and the vengeance felt so good.

I couldnt finish GTAVs missions because of fatigue personally. Even though I know theyre just fine.

No doubt the story is great but the gameplay itself is the worst haha

Weapons leaving your load out when you get off your horse. I get people have always taken the piss out of Rockstar games for the "pulling a rocket launcher of your back pocket" mechanic, but I feel like the realism here wasn't needed.

    It's annoying and inconvenient.

No story line has topped San Andreas for me yet. Maybe I was so young and impressionable, but CJ's story felt very buyable.

Gets out of jail, wants to live right, comes home to find his old life in shambles. Tries to pick up the pieces, gets betrayed and manipulated, and then makes friends among unlikely allies to get revenge against his homies who betrayed him. Along with Sam L Jackson as the evil Officer Tenpenny, it made a lasting impression. I also loved how when the game announces that he's not going to jail for the murder of a civilian (how awfully, ironically relevant now?) downtown San Andreas riots and all the buildings/cars are on fire with people fighting in the street.

Also to that point, it was the first super massive map game I ever played and recall feeling like I was in totally different parts of a state due to lanscape changes and story lines dealing with specific areas you had to hang around in.

Tenpenny was the best villain hands down

Same, and I still consider San Andreas to be an all time favourite. Maybe one day I'll finish it.

I think it’s without a doubt the best open world Rockstar has made yet and while it doesn’t exactly address the empty world problem their games has, it does feel more immersive versus the GTA games. It does suffer from the typical Rockstar game problems, as with the points you brought up, and the online mode is starting to have the exact same problems that made GTA Online a slog. Overall, I still love the game and it’s tied with GoW for my game of the year but I agree with you, the game is not perfect. If anything, it’s the next plateau for open world games to take what this game did and improve upon them.

So the Metro movie stopped production because they couldn't change the story from Moscow to DC (no shiiit)

Why DC? New York would’ve been a much better equivalent and literally everyone on the planet who’s seen a movie about NYC would know about it’s subway system.

The book's author brought up a good point that they were worried Americans wouldn't see it if it took place it Moscow, but the books and the games took place in Moscow and they sold relatively fine so it's a bit of a nonstarter anyway.
