I can’t get behind DS being the GOTD, it’s a cool series but I honestly doubt it’s as influential as y’all are letting it on to be.

 

Dark Souls has been wildly influential, but I do think Minecraft would be the most logical choice.

 

someone tell us what games it influenced

I don’t think it’s the most influential game of the decade or anything (it would def be my personal GOTD) but Dark Souls literally spawned people calling games “Souls-like” and any game that people find difficult is linked to Dark Souls or FromSoft titles

I think it’s had a big influence on games throughout the decade.

how many of these are good? Ive only ever heard of nioh and darksiders. the former seems to kinda be just a copy thats not great as far as Ive heard.

Yeah I would def say Hollow Knight, and Shovel Knight too

 

I loved Code Vein, Nioh and Ashen.

The Surge and Lords of the Fallen were rather clunky feeling but I thought both were enjoyable.

Nioh is solid imo, same concept but the design is a little better

 

Ashen ruled

 

Just the part of risk/reward in death, and breaking open those jewel lamps.

Also, I think there's a shooter called Remnant that's heavily Souls inspired.

wait so the people that made dark souls influenced themselves?

 

if you wanna go that far, technically Dark Souls doesn't even count as the most influential game of the decade because Demon's Souls came out 2009.
