    idk judging from the most popular avenues on the internet, the open world trajectory of this decade went skyrim->witcher 3->red dead 2 & breath of the wild

    horizon looks like it may belong too but I think its success was more modest by comparison

    I honestly think Minecraft is the game of the decade, no other game has been as influential, prevalent, and popular as Minecraft was this decade. It’s like more than a game honestly, it’s a part of the cultural zeitgeist at this point.
