Last night I read that it’s as wide as a current gen controller and 3 controllers tall. Which is roughly about the length of the Xbox One but about twice as wide.

but not sure how factual that is (and if they were basing it on seeing the hardware personally or if they were using the image at the end of the video that showed the controller in front of it and assumed the size based on that)

The Playstation did nothing special this generation. They've done what they've always done. The difference was their competition. Microsoft fucked up. Not on exclusives. That's honestly irrelevant. They fucked up their own brand this generation because of two reasons.

1. The reveal of the Xbox One was a disaster. Such a disaster that they immediately lost this generation, at least in terms of sales. There was no coming back from that reveal no matter what they did. All they could do was build up good will for the next Xbox. They lost this generation the moment they unveiled the damn thing. And honestly, I don't entirely hold it against them. Microsoft was actually right on most things about the Xbox One. They predicted what the industry was gonna do and how it was gonna change 10 years ago. They built a console for those changes. But they were too eager to be in the future, that they forgot about the present. And their communication about their ideas was trash, so that didn't help.

2. What is the Xbox brand? Power. The OG Xbox was the most powerful. The 360 was the most powerful. So what happened? The day one Xbox One was under-powered. That brand identity was lost. Why do you think they then spent a bunch of money developing the Xbox One X? It was to retake that brand because from the day they entered the console space, it was theirs. I don't think people realize that the Xbox consoles have never had the catalog of exclusives games the other consoles had. And the exclusives the Xbox did have, most didn't even sell well. I don't wanna hear about this whole "where are the Xbox exclusives" since historically, most people don't buy them. There's a reason Microsoft stopped investing in exclusives for years. Because outside of Halo, Gears, and Forza, nobody was interested. Even Fable wasn't really safe in the end since it didn't meet projections.

Let's be clear about this. Microsoft isn't investing in studios now because of the criticisms aimed at them. They're investing in studios because of game pass. They're already making bank off it and the more these new studios churn out games for the service, the more people are gonna pay attention to it as a great value. If you want console only exclusive games on the Xbox, too bad. Those days are over. Accept it and move on. You don't have to find a reason to buy the next Xbox. Just chill with your PS5 and Switch. If any Microsoft games come out that you're interested in, you can play them on your PC.

Really Microsoft consoles are ready-made gaming PCs now, they just built those of us that are scared of PCs accessible little frontends

 

the ps exclusives of this gen have been really great and Id definitely take them or something of that quality from xbox first partys. almost all of the games Ive cared about this gen were third party though.

 

Microsoft naming conventions just seems like quicksand the more they do the worse it gets.

 

Xbox exclusives this gen couldn't have been less appealing to me. Sony's have been great. Give me Fable and I'll consider buying an Xbox again
