Momentum matters most. Sony’s momentum this gen started because of the price and because Microsoft had a terrible unveiling as well as a delayed launch in some markets. That all happened before people argue about exclusives. What leads to momentum however is not always obvious.

Both of this. The performance problems of the OG Xbox One for third party games was a huge problem that led to more PS4 sales.

That isn’t going to happen again. Spencer has essentially come out and said they will never allow themselves to be looked at as the less powerful console again.

Imma make a hot take prediction and say that Nintendo will release an advanced Switch bundled with RDR2 and not only will it be the best version but people will buy that instead, establishing Nintendo as video games kings again. MS and Sony will give up and focus solely on this new Switch because it is supreme. Also the world ends at some point.

 

I personally struggle to understand how someone can't see the appeal of the new one -- to me its the perfect balance of getting to feel powerful smash some baddies solve some puzzles and get a really great story and a fascinating treatise on masculinity. (Whereas GoW3 really just delivers on the smashing some baddies bit)

But cool thing about video games is not everyone has to like the same stuff there is still plenty of great stuff out there even if you aren't into GoW

 

What killed Rare is the 3D era. The only good 3D game they made until Sea of Thieves, which really wasn’t made by same people, was Starfox Adventures. Yes I said it, their N64 game suck lol

 

All I care about now is Sports Story anyway.

 

It’s wild that GoW 3 came out in 2010 and the newest installment came out last year, it’s like two different schools of thought in one decade.
