Nier: Automata is shaping up to be pretty good at least.

I got $40 off my boss for betting on the Texans and now I'm looking straight at buying Overcooked and Stardew Valley.

Crazy, that was one of the few Xbox games I was interested. It must have been in pretty bad shape for them to just cancel it though..

I remember the last gameplay demo they showed seeming if not bad... than thoroughly mundane.

Didn't jive with the concept or reveal trailer... or even Platinum's general design philosophy with their big titles.

    Really sad about Scalebound. Ugh

It appears to me Microsoft just gets opportunity cost, unlike some other video game companies. I did look forward to Scalebound, but they probably cancelled it for a reason, must have been pretty rough.

Bummer it turned out to be true. Admittedly it never drew my interest.

Dear Esther is basically a 90 minute art movie that you move through. Visuals and music are great, though I feel the writing would've been a lot stronger with a more minimalist approach. As it is, it's a little 'purple prose'-ish for my tastes. But if you're interested in it, I'd say why not? It's only $10, and commentary mode is real interesting.

Ethan Carter was pretty good! Again, super strong visuals and music, murder mystery part of things is pretty cool, and actually some interesting 'side quests' that help vary up the atmosphere. Again, if you're a baby like me, one these side quests is an Amnesia-style monster-avoidance bit that is necessary to completing the game's story, but if you can handle that, I'd say go all in on that for sure! (And the GameFAQs was actually pretty helpful in navigating that scary bit, if you wanna tackle it.

I'll be honest, Rapture kind really bummed me out with how slooooooowly you move across the playspace. Like, I heard about that before I bought it but I really did not expect the environments to be that big and your movement to be that slow. Cool story, but kinda undone by how laborious is to play.

Also, my bugged out in the middle of Frank's story, so I was never able to trigger his ending scene. Tried starting a new game and it happened twice. So, definitely lost a couple hours there...

I had a choice a few weeks ago between those two or Smite gems. I choose gems.

This extra money gets me them both and I'm stoked. I'm hoping Overcooked can be the perfect 4 player game for me and my cousins.

Also saw some chatter that Microsoft was setting unreasonable milestones for the game to hit and it just kept falling further and further behind to the point where they decided it was better to scrap it. Too bad, hope everything is good with Kamiya.

Honestly, the speed never really bothered me. I enjoyed wandering the game so much, I almost forgot to follow the path for the story. Loved it so much, super nostalgic for me for some reason.

It did, but they shut down the servers and that basically renders the game dead. Also removed it from the store.

Ah gotcha. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it Free-to-play when it released too?

Project Spark was free-to-play and then went free at the end. Had a lot of fun with it.

Totally forgot to address the Dear Esther thing. I'd say, if you really enjoyed Rapture, you should almost certainly enjoy this.

As I mentioned earlier, the narration is a little overwritten for me, but I think as an 'art' game it's a much more contained experience, and much easier to go back through and reexamine. Only $10!
