I'll get bf1 eventually but titanfall seems more my style. So far I'm loving it

You'll like Second Son. It was my first PS4 game, and my first Infamous game.

Smh you don't need to read the lore bits of Doom. Saying there is no story without them is the point. It's not meant to have a story. The focus of the game is the mix of fast melee combat, gunplay, and the explorable side areas. I personally liked all the boss fights too. They were fun.

I actually was JUST playing some Titanfall 2. It really is the whole package as posted earlier. Great campaign, and addictive mp.

This does not refer to the post by aspeedomodel. It's about first and third person shooter multiplayer this year in general.

I think BF1 multiplayer is brilliant and the best BF multiplayer since Bad Company 2. If BF multiplayer is not your thing compared to the more CoD school of thought, that is fine, but it is near perfect for what it wants to be. Also, I applaud DICE for recognizing that future warfare is a (slowly) sinking ship. It put them in a great position this year compared to CoD (which by all accounts also wasn't at its best even within the context of future warfare, in terms of multiplayer) and Titanfall (which was great).

Gears of War 4 also had great competitive multiplayer this year, yet it was completely slept on. Call me old fashioned but, in the year of Overwatch, I still love multiplayer with a steep learning curve that isn't afraid to show me statistics about how much is suck.. until I don't suck anymore.

Also, I think Overwatch (although by all accounts a good game) is occasionally being applauded for stuff that Splatoon did a) first and b) was slightly ridiculed for.

EDIT: OVERWATCH IS GOOD AND ALSO HAS A LEARING CURVE

Are you saying Overwatch doesn't have a learning curve?

No. There are definitely people that become much better at it over time and the MOBA-esque tendencies make it very deep for a certain kind if player. It is very accessible however, even for people that aren't good at shooters. That is not a bad thing. I just think that, because of how accessible it is and because of its tendency to only show you feel-good statistics, it is occasionally being portrayed as the definitive way a competitive shooter should be (especially by people that aren't deep into competitive shooters). I don't agree with that at all. Both has its place, yet the Gears model is increasingly being written off, or at least that was my perception this year.

I played the first two Infamous games, and while they're fun it wasn't my favorite style of gaming. Had a similar feel of Prototype or something along those lines. I did complete both though.

I keep hearing Bloodborne and The Witcher a lot.

Overwatch seems like a different beast because it's class/hero based. Easy to pick up but can take awhile to master all the heroes and learn the ins and outs

Just curious because I like your input, what do you think of Titanfall 2? (In more detail)

I'd really rather they take a page from what's happening with Crash Bandicoot and remaster the first three Spyro games in HD.

This is my dream and I have literally been waiting years for this.

Titanfall 2 was great. The platforming was great, shooting felt good, using a titan was cool. the SERE moment is incredible. Reminded me of the end of hl2 where you become ridiculously overpowered and wreck havoc on everyone but it's not overdone

The platforming aspect so far is the most fun part. The shooting is also really smooth and feels really good. Weird comparison but it kind of reminds me of the first time I played halo way back when in terms of satisfaction and enjoyment I'm getting

I'm looking forward to Titanfall 2 whenever I get around to picking it up.

First person platforming is a hard thing to get right, it's impressive that Titanfall 2 controls so well, to make it feel so natural and precise, while also pretty frequently introducing new mechanics to keep it feeling fresh. In a year when we got a Mirror's Edge sequel, never in a million years would I have thought Titanfall 2 would have the far superior platforming experience.

I think it's great for what it is and no modern warfare shooter has nailed movement the way they did, except maybe Destiny, although that is also a different beast. I'm pretty tired of shooters like that though (I played a lot of Titanfall 1, Halo 5 and way too much competitive Destiny multiplayer) so the WW1 setting of BF1 and the "slow" movement of Gears 4 has really been a breath of fresh air for me this year. The Battlefield series has always been my favorite though.

    Also, thanks!

Mine too. BF1 is insane. Idk how anyone could ever compare the simplicity of COD to the depth of BF.

Yeah I haven't played a shooter like this in a while so that's why it's hitting the spot. I'm excited to get bf1 eventually too since it seems tight. Also still gotta get DOOM at some point

I used to love Halo until Reach, and 4 turned me off the series for good.

I played reach for a week then got bored. Haven't played a halo since

I haven't played nearly as much BF1 as I'd like because I have been busy, only played it for maybe 20 hours so far (very rough guess). Can't wait to get back into it.
