    REVIEW OF VIRTUA COP

Virtua Cop is a first-person light gun shooter arcade game created by “Sega” AM2 and headed by Yu Suzuki. Its original incarnation was an arcade game in 1994 and it was later ported to the “Sega Saturn” in 1995 and Microsoft Windows in 1997 with either a light gun or Mouse.

Ok so it looks quite crude now but if memory serves me correct, and I could be wrong here, it was a bit of a game changer. Before VC, light gun games had just scrolled sideways like “Operation Wolf” or “Lethal Enforcers”. In VC, the player was introduced to a fully 3D environments, which you then progressed through shooting bad guys as you went! “Virtua Cop” was notable for its first use of real time polygonal graphics, which were subsequently used later in other popular Light Gun games “The House of the Dead” and “Time Crisis”, instead of the two dimensional sprites. Here a little footage for the nostalgic. Plug in!

I'm not sure. But it's like the only video game documentary I've seen. It was pretty entertaining about setting the high score for Donkey Kong

unfortunately journalists who work in the game industry give 7s to games that aren't close to 7s

that's why ppl view 7s as bad. bc industry is a joke

You should watch the Double Fine Adventure documentary series on YouTube. It's amazing.

yeah i think people overstate stuff for sure. the games that are really unplayable are the ones that Angry Joe and Jimquisition cover on their "Worst Games of <Year>" videos, and they're almost always ones we don't hear about anyway. so then people exaggerate their disappointment of mediocre AAA titles in place when it comes to forums/social media.

at least with re:core, i watched Gameranx and Tetra Ninja's videos about it. It seems the consensus is it lacks in character and story, but has good platforming and gameplay. And on XB1, at least around the time of its release, it had bad loading times and framerate issues. So I'll get it when it's cheaper.

The recent one by noclip on the new Doom is fantastic, very well done and informative. The second episode is probably one of the best lessons in game design you can watch in my opinion.

Diablo 3 is still of my faves from this decade, the new OG Diablo patch is neat too. Was rather disappointed that I was able to tear through The Butcher with ease though.

I actualy think the trend is people being to lenient when it comes to reviewing games, unless those games are made by Nintendo (though there are also critics that are too easy on Nintendo games, I guess, but those often aren't the same critics) or generally misunderstood. I don't think that's a conscious or malicious thing though, it's just the usual group think that can plague critics of all media/art. Sometimes that also leads to critics almost collectively being to hard on a game, of course. Also there is the fact that many video game critics are fairly young, especially at places like IGN, which often comes with a certain level of susceptibility for "video game magic". All of that isn't necessarily bad, just something to keep in mind I think.

I mean you're mainly mentioning bad launches or technical issues here. I mean the quality of the games in general. Again, esp in comparison to other stuff.

Yeah I am, true. Depends on how you want to look at it. To me, that is unplayable

I lost out on $60 for master chief collection because I thought they would eventually fix it... frowny face

arkham knight seems to be the biggest most completely broken triple A game ever

Master Chief Collection was so annoying. Honestly doubt I would have even bought an Xbone if it weren't for that game.

$500. I grew up a little since then. they were worth $100 in trade in 6 months later
