the story is pretty much nonexistent (there's a minute long cutscene after each episode aaaand that's about it), you'll be fine. i also get a little obsessive about playing an entire series before a new entry but i had no issues here when i only vaguely remember the story from the one hitman game i played previously.

Nah, they way the did this one is sort of like episodes (hence the season thing). You go to a city and you get the contract. Not to discredit the game, but you definitely don't need to play prior games.

 

There is an interconnecting story between the main contracts. Normally a cut scene after the mission. I couldn't tell you what it is or what it's about and I've beat every mission but it's there!

 

@scott if you enjoy hitman 2016 and want to dive deeper then give hitman: blood money a shot.

 

I am replaying 1-3 now. Over Halfway through 3 already. Can't wait to play 4.

We finally upgraded our router, extended and just have amazing internet in general now.

This allows me and my brother to play like Smite/Overwatch/Rocket League with no issues and it's been amazing. We have so much fun together and the fact we both are semi decent at these games makes it better.

It also has been better for smite because he is my jungler and I'm mid so we team up perfectly.

the best part is the fact we bought him a headset just so he could talk to me without yelling across the house about something.

 

Also SMITE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS TOMORROW AND AWESOME GAMES DONE QUICK THIS WEEKEND.

Sooooo goood. The next three months are so stacked. RE7, Horizon, For Honor, and now ME.

 

And I've still got to beat TLG. Plus barely scratched the surface of FFXV, and X-Com 2.

 

Damn the Gaiatoad in lost odyssey.

Assholes have no back story, but the stomp, and acid rain attack combo is the fucking worst.

Edit:bought doom with a best buy gift card. Not dying to play it, but i'll be damned if I ever go to a store intent on using up gift cards without buying at least one thing....and what's Christmas without a demon invasion on mars?

I've been playing Hitman for close to a month now and I've just finished up doing the Bangkok story mission. Six destinations may not seem like a lot, but the replay value makes it all worth it.

 

My problem with this argument is Hitman 2: Silent Assassin had 21 missions and they're all just as replayable as anything in the new one, with multiple ways to complete each level. I literally spent years playing through that game in different ways and I'll still occasionally return to it even now. Blood Money had like 11 or 12 missions and they're also just as replayable as any level in the new one. I love Hitman but 6 missions just feels too short imo, especially if you paid full price for the game. It's still one of the best games I've played recently anyway, I just want more of it haha.

 

You're both right. The simple fact is that the video game industry is a mess and this is about as much as you can hope for in 2016/2017 when it comes to a franchise like Hitman, given the skyrocketing development costs, the plunging sales and the price erosion.
