I'm planning on buying my own Xbox one during Black Friday so me and my brother can play smite together.

Did you read reviews of the TV? Make sure it has a nice gaming mode and/or low input lag. Input lag is HORRIBLE for gaming.

So do I go for the pro by itself for $400 tomorrow or the PS4 slim and uncharted for $250 on Black Friday (plus an extra $75 in a gift card?)

Is the pro really worth essentially $225 more for better graphics, slightly better performance and more hard drive space? I'm having a hard time justifying it. I already have a 65 inch 4K tv so there is that factor. Thoughts?!

Go for the pro! Especially if your 4K TV is HDR compatible.

It depends on what you want. If you want to buy a Pro on sale in two years, buy a regular one. If you want to future proof a little, buy a Pro. Given that the Scorpio will be even more powerfull than the Pro, the regular PS4 will fa behind faster than you might think. Your TV makes a Pro an even better sell.

I might just skip pro since PS5 is probably 2019.

Well yeah, I just mean if you jump in now, I would not buy an old model. Upgrading is a different story.

PS4 Pro feels pointless. Better graphics/performance for some games is nice but not worth me getting ridding of my existing PS4 and upgrading. But yeah, if you don't have a console at all then going for the Pro over getting an extra game or two is probably best.

I'm buying a 4k HDR TV on Black Friday, will most likely get a PS4 Pro as well. I'm having a hard time deciding which system I want to update, original PS4 to PS4 Pro, or original Xbox One to One S.

Pro obviously is great for 4k gaming as it utilizes the HDR and can process games better, but doesn't have a 4k Blu Ray player.

One S, on the other hand, can do 4k Blu Rays, but the gaming lacks a bit more. Also, Scorpio is coming out next year where as PS4 Pro I think will be around for some time.

If I was in the situation to upgrade both consoles, I would go with the Xbox for the Bluray player. I could handle keeping the old PS4 if I could get a 4k bluray player and still minimally upgrade my gameplay.

All this just makes me wish Sony would have made a PS4 Pro with better specs and a 4k bluray player.

Maybe even 2018. I wonder when Sony and Microsoft start making compartmental consoles where upgrading is as simple as inserting new components.

The specs are great in PS4 Pro though - just wish they did the 4k Blu Ray.

They're certainly not bad. Just could be a little beefier to justify upgrading more.

But I don't even have a 4k tv so none of this matters for me.

I don't think that will ever happen. It'd be cool, but the average consumer would be confused.

If I had a 4K tv I'd get a Pro. I'm happy with my tv at the moment so I'm not sure when I'll be upgrading.

Titanfall was 35 dollars at Target but I guess that sale ended today so I missed it and I'm sad.

Also, PSN rant, it's annoying that the web browser PSN store has a wishlist but you can't see it on the console PSN.

Yeah I noticed that when I realized the sale was over and started searching around. When I saw the ad last night (and should have bought it then) I pumped myself up for playing it today so now I'm let down, haha. I'll definitely be getting it though.

  21. I'm doing an experiment in Skyrim where I don't do any quest lines until level 46 when all the leveled loot/rewards are maxed.

As for the Special Edition part of it, it really does look better than vanilla Skyrim. The lighting alone makes a big difference.

Poor FFXIII, I keep putting it aside on a whim.

I don't get why everyone thinks Sony messed up by not putting a 4K player in the pro. Isn't it the digital streaming age? I have like 200 DVD/blu rays that just take up space on a shelf at this point. I get having the physical version of something is cooler but I dunno it just doesn't seem like as big of a deal to me as it does to others.

That being said, I think you guys convinced me to get the pro. I don't have a PS4 yet and my tv does have HDR.

I'm annoyed Sony knows people like me will buy it, even without a game bundled in for the next couple months. That's the part that annoys me a bit but I'm sure I will get over it.

Digital streaming is doing well but 4k streaming? Even HD streaming is a pain for a huge portion of the population due to slow internet/data caps.

I really only say super-obvious things in here, but Wind Waker is so good and the HD remaster looks better than a lot of newer games.
