That's down to the creators hyping up there being something there where there isn't. They've teased their being something big st the centet of the galaxy as a goal for awhile now.

Well aside from the fact that they teased something would be at the centre of the galaxy, is there even such thing as a game that's just pure exploration with no hint of an objective? We could all gather enough knowledge to build a game world that purely involves walking around. There's a shit ton on Steam greenlight for under £10.

Even things like Minecraft had the basic objective of building stuff and surviving at the start and has developed other objectives over time. I mean I get that it was always advertised as an exploration game but it's not much of an exploration game when there's nothing to discover, is it? What is anyone even exploring for?

 

I would be really pissed off if I had played for 40+ hours to get that ending. Not sure why'd they hype up getting to the center if that's what happens.

Speaking of endings, I just got back from hell in Doom. How much longer do I have?

 

Probably 4-5 hours

 

The IGN guy reviewing it seems to be loving it. He posted one of those "review in progress" things. I wonder how many hours reviewers are gonna put into it before they feel like they can adequately review this game.

 

Sweet thanks. It'll probably take longer with how long I get stuck on some of these encounters.

 

The reviews are bumming me out, but at the same time I kind of expected this type of polarizing situation. Also, I think most of the promise in this type of game in terms of longevity will come with updates, so I really feel like the game we'll have a year from now might be a totally different beast from what we have now. Is this how I like to go into buying/playing a full price game? Definitely not, but I still can't help but want to play it.

Bringing it back today. Will probably buy it much cheaper down the road. Will probably use the money to fully preorder Pokemon Moon and pick up Bloodborne.

 

I would say even longer than that.

 

It's not so much an "ending" but that they've been saying since beginning you are working towards the center of the galaxy and that "something" is there. They've built up the mystery as to what is there and I completely get people being upset if that is truly what it is.

 

Been having fun just exploring with NMS, though I will say without an objective it is hard to choose where to go next or feel like you're accomplishing anything other than flying to new planets over and over. If updates don't give me more to focus on I'll probably be bored of it within a month or so, but for now I'm just enjoying the experience of seeing all these new systems/planets.

Never played a game where there technically wasn't an objective or "ending" to work toward, so this is an entirely new experience.

 

I think IGN said they were waiting until they got to the center.

 

Thats probably smart. You'd figure he's seen almost all the game has to offer by that point.

 

Wouldn't surprise me to see IGN give it at least a 7. They covered it pretty hardcore in its development and even had it as one of their IGN First things, twice I think. They always seem afraid to give AAA releases low scores.

I checked out a few pieces on other sites and judging by their views so far I'm expecting reviews between 4 and 6/10. Jim Sterling gave it 5.

Get comfy with the dodging. Make sure you have enough health items and shotgun shells because you'll need it.

 

It was surprisingly easy. Obviously I fight him again it looks like. So I got the third death mask, but I assumed the helmet key was going to be in there. I don't know where to progress now lol

 

I think you need one more mask but I'm not really sure where it is, it's been a bit since I've played it haha

 

For sure I'll look it up.

 

Oh yeah, I have some RE games in my backlog. And Dead Space. And FEAR. I don't know why I bought so many horror games. I don't like horror movies, I don't know why I thought I'd like horror games.

 

DS is dope, I should replay that soon.
