I wasn't sure a game would ever topple Destiny or The Division for most overrated and overhyped game but No Man's Sky is sure getting there quick.

While I mentioned my newly reborn love for Destiny earlier in the thread, The Division makes me borderline angry because I can't quite figure out why I don't like it even though I want to so badly (which may be linked to my splurge purchase of the game + season pass which I NEVER do), but I probably clocked less than 10 hours time total before I got distracted by another game and haven't gone back since. I've wanted to try it again, but I always find myself more interested in...any other game.

yeah as much as a wreck that it was at the beginning, since the Taken King I think Destiny still does everything the Division is trying to do but way better. Doesn't hurt that the gunplay in Destiny is some of the best in years

Obviously you haven't heard that there's a Final Fantasy VII remake happening because nothing can ever top that

    Or better yet the original

haha fwiw I'm basing a lot of that opinion on having more experiences and more interesting experiences playing with other people in Destiny than I did with the Division I guess.

That said, I think the Dark Zone is one of the cooler and most tense experiences I've had with a game in a while. I'd love to see something like that expanded on and incorporated more.

edit: actually Destiny pvp in general, thinking back on it, was kind of a bummer to me. Did not like the crucible stuff really at all

Yes. This game is woefully, embarrassingly, frustratingly underexplained. There is almost no tutorial of any kind.

I bought the second expansion for Destiny and got bored with it the second I finished the main quest.

I think No Man's Sky will get a lot of play for me. The mining in Mass Effect was my favorite part of the game and that is basically all this is. lol

No Man's Sky is like EVE except I don't have to socialize or do math so I'm a fan

As an EVE player, this actually makes me way more interested.

  15. My best friend just gifted me 3D Dot Game Heroes, Infamous 1+2, Arkham City, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, Fallout New Vegas, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Little Big Planet 2 to add to the growing PS3 collection. Blown away and very excited.

NMS is eve super-super-lite, part of the appeal of EVE is how complex the systems are and the human to human interaction, I've never actually played EVE but it looks super interesting in regards to economy.

Yeah DeviantRogue is probably more right than I am haha. I tried playing EVE and I enjoyed it but hated how unbelievably far behind I was since it's been around for so long, so I stopped. Starting something like NMS from launch where I can learn things at the same time as others makes it feel so appealing to me.

But yeah EVE is certainly more complex as a whole.

I like spreadsheets so I should really check out EVE when I have less of a backlog heh.

That's also what got me to stop hahaha, it's so hard to do well in EVE and play other things.

Yeah for what it's worth I really did love Destiny. I must have put 50-60 hours into vanilla and then another 30-40 into The Taken King. The first two DLCs can barely be classed as such.

Eventually though the grind just wears really thin and you figure out that there's only a handful of stats and perks that items can have and you've exhausted them all. You can really make a 'build', it all just feels the same.

I think if they could keep the formula they have but really flesh it out more, the future could be brighter.

I spent about 30 minutes this morning reading a bunch of posts/comments on Reddit and how upset people are. The dude, I think his name is Sean Murray, kept saying that the game is so massive that even though plenty of people are playing the likelihood of people running into each other is nearly impossible. It's like, loose quote, "you are on a planet the size of the earth and you tell your friend you're on a mountain". Then on the first day two guys are in the exact same spot and they can't see each other. There was also a picture from a European box that has a sticker covering the "Multiplayer" symbol because in the USA apparently it's listed as multiplayer. He kept restating that it's not really a multiplayer game, but made it seem like it was a possibility. Now it looks like you're "just a floating camera with a gun" flying around an empty universe.

Anyways, with all these people talking about Destiny does anybody play Halo 5? Destiny in my opinion was absolute shit, and Halo 5's multiplayer has been excellent. It's hard not to compare the two since Bungie made the Halo franchise. It's constantly updated and has so many variations. I wasn't a fan of Warzone but this new Firefight is great.

I'm honestly kinda relieved NMS isn't multiplayer because it means it's actually possible to pause and not die

Yeah once you hit the level cap and you're just increasing your Light level I thought was kind of a pain and felt like I was putting a lot of work in for very little return.

Also it would be nice if Destiny 2 just allowed for matchmaking into raids. I don't want to organize with random people, I don't want to use a 3rd party website to match me up with people.

Yeah its like the only game with a real economy. Plus like real politics with the player owned and controlled factions. It's sorta fascinating really. I'd watch a doc on all the funny stuff that happens in that game.

Honestly I doubt Destiny 2 will be that big of a leap. They are very firm on players keeping the same characters throughout the entire journey so it's not gonna be a total wipe and refresh type deal. I expect it'll just be a new campaign with a new class or something.

I always wanted raid matchmaking but I don't think they're ever budging on that. I would at least like them to bring in matchmaking for the older raids that people have done a shit load of times if they don't want it for the newer ones.
