Yeah, tbh, I like No Man's Sky but I was hoping for a bit more. Hopefully we get more with their updates they talked about. It's a good start but it's really not enough...yet. There's still hope.

I'm interested in the game, but think I'll wait for a sale before finally picking it up. I'm worried about it becoming monotonous and that I'd quickly tire of it after just a few hours.

I was scared of this too and aftee playing for 5 hours last night I might not even play it today. Idk I love exploration but honestly it's all very similar. You explore until you find new minerals, new life, and the same structures on different planets. For an exploration game it doesn't do much there. Sure there's a lot of places to go but not many of them offer anything. Idk like I said I sure do like it I just want more.

The promised updates make me even more intrigued by NMS, but still hesitant on taking the plunge and purchasing. If a couple more positive reviews come through and I can snag a good deal on a PC copy I think it seems like a game worth getting involved with early, but my worries still have me hoping it doesn't get too redundant.

EDIT - posted before I saw the post above this - those are pretty much my exact concerns

I found myself thinking last night that it's definitely a game I could tire yourself out on quick, but easily pick up and play for a little while in short bursts. I think the play style is conducive to that kind of play style. That said, I've had an absolute blast running around and exploring, it's just so much fun. Here's a gorgeous planet i got lost in for like an hour last night, around dusk.

I keep hearing that one of the general disappointments is how it feels more like a general survival/crafting game than people anticipated. As someone who has very little experience with those games (I've played a little Don't Starve, about an hour of Terraria, etc.) I'm kinda hoping maybe I'd find it less stale?

maybe Ill like No Mans Sky 2 when it comes out. there's literally nothing I would have fun doing in this one. if they just like put in minecraft like features or quests or narrative or something I'd be closer to showing interest

Alternatively - if NMS gets VR support I think it'd be a pretty killer use of the technology.

He just responded to this situation, basically saying "it's still possible, but there were so many players in the world at once that it could have affected them seeing each other," but also saying "players could be able to interact, not necessarily with each other's characters, but there might be some 'easter eggs.'" Not direct quotes, but that's the gist of it that I got.

It makes it sound like he actually doesn't know if it's truly possible? Not to discredit him whatsoever, Sean and his team have clearly worked really hard on this, but it's intriguing to see this kind of uncertainty and kind of feels like a testament to the game's flavor in a way haha

yeah it's definitely a weird game. I logged maybe 6 hours playing it yesterday and in that time, short of getting a warp drive together, I didn't really do much of anything, but not in a bad way, it was actually nice to not have a main quest/story nagging at me to progress forward (conversely, when I do the same thing playing Fallout 4 or the Witcher 3 I feel like I've wasted time I could have been using to progress). I'm def enjoying it, guess we'll see how long it lasts, seems like they plan to update/support it for a long time so it'll be interesting to see what the game becomes.

Don't think too highly of the game, but this letter from Sean actually gave me a bit of inspirational goosebumps, seems like a good dude.
