Pretty interesting article. The key points that I am definitely in agreement about are the lack of backward compatibility and having to repurchase old games again along with the fact that there is one title listed so far and its also going to be on the WiiU.

It seems like everyone wants Nintendo to succeed but the chips are stacked against them...

The chips are stacked against them based on their own self-imposed faults though.

Playing Versus mode on Magic Duels is really frustrating at low rank because they all use the oldest cards and the most basic decks and I still keep losing. Sure, the gold reward is higher for PVP, but at least when I play against AI, even when I lose and even though it takes twice as many games to get the same amount of gold, I see new card combinations. I don't want to play to the meta just to climb the ladder just to get better games, the idea of that has never been appealing to me. The AI can be a real dick when it decides it's one of those games you're not going to win, though.

Implementing Standard and Wild is the best thing that ever happened to Hearthstone.

Anybody else doing the Elder Scrolls Legends Beta? I just downloaded it, and am hoping to dive in pretty hard because work should be super dead. I know it's 90% Hearthstone, but as someone who is obsessed with TES but has never played a Warcraft game in their life, it'll be nice to know the characters/references lol. Let's play!

    beautiful and chequered, the end

The end game of Fire Emblem Awakening is super frustrating, I feel im being punished for not playing the game a certain away. The only characters I have that can do anything are Chrom, my character and Lon qu, everyone else is just cannon fodder. Googling around it seems I used Fredrick and my character too much at the beginning so the XP wasn't spread out evenly enough between my party, wish I knew this going in.

It definitely has some strong Zelda vibes but it reminds me a little of Dark Souls with the "tough, but fair" fights. Also, I die a lot.

What I'm saying is that I'll never get the trophy for beating the game without dying.

    Regular

Seconded. It's definitely a combination of Dark Souls and Zelda.

The dungeons, overhead views, exploration, all Zelda.

    The combat- all Dark Souls.

But I really like how there is no dialogue in the game (so far). It's a very visual game, and the sound is impeccable.

I'd be much more interested in Hyper if the co-op play was network based rather than local. Seems like a game me and my best mate would love to play through together but we don't live near each other anymore.

I honestly am having a blast with the game. Reminds me of how much fun Zelda games were in the beginning where you see things you can't get to maybe, but know you'll be coming back to them...I dunno loving it
I dunno, not really struggling yet. I read that dashing is vital in fights, so I've been using it non-stop and it's been serving me well. Have died a few times though.
I love how the "dialogue" or conversations are told through pictures. Works so well.

    Soundtrack is wonderful too.

Damn, this is going to end up high on my list I think at the end of the year...so good

Its not really fair to judge it yet. It's not even a finished game. I think a lot of the criticism is people finding out it is a survival game and that you can only play a few missions right now.

I do think it'll be a slow burn. Not a lot of achievements up front, lots of digging into the game and exploring.

And it brings absolutely nothing new to the survival game table. Game will 100% live or die based on the narrative, as often is the case with Early Access games the changes will be iterative and we have a generally good idea of what the final product will look like, and none of the gameplay looks great.

Edit: And people finding out it's a survival after the fact is the Dev's fault for not making that clear, when the trailer screams a narrative focused experience. Almost deliberately misleading with how the game was presented at E3.

Better to look at a game as it is, than assume it gets better regardless of Early Access or not, key design elements aren't just going to change overnight.

Hence, the preview program. Either way, you don't have to like every game. It's not for you, fair enough.
